Not exactly a reference sheet, I just wanted to make a pinup and some alts of how a drone, in this case dronified Blake, would look like with its plaques open, since normal drones in my lore are not corruption based, and don't involve hypno (technically they involve hypno tho?) nor latex stuff nor any of the things people deep into furry associate with "drones", I wanted to explain what my version of drones were, and how they are differentiated from outright androids in my lore.
Think of my version of drones similar to how the Lin Kuei cyborgs from Mortal Kombat are, where, while the change is permanent like in most standard furry drone depictions, mine is more geared towards outright body horror and actual physical body and brain modification instead of a latex takeover or mind corruption, the transformation can't be reversed and it involves having to brutally modify the original organic body of the subject, forcefully taking their memories and personality away, and modifying the brain to be more "computer-like" where the resulting drone can be given instructions, commands, routines, predefined behaviours, and plenty of other customizable elements, etc.
One hard rule is that drones do not get to retain a "face", they are all given helmets instead and are not allowed to have any resemblance of eyes or mouth beyond a visor and maybe some cavity that acts as a connection port or for other functions that would act as a "mouth" of sorts, this unlike androids who while they can also lack a proper face and look exactly like a drone, can also be seen having normal although fully artificial "faces", like in the case of my android lioness Monica or the android dragon Corvul which I have depicted in drawings a long time ago (they are both due another appearance soon tbh)
Basically, a drone is a cyborg, an android is fully artificial, visually they can look the same sometimes, although androids are normally seen with a proper artificial face of sorts while drones are never allowed to have a face, being reduced to a helmet instead, functionally they both come in base "templates", they all can have the same base bodies and body types, although they can all be heavily customized in a way that they are made to look unique and have very specific functions, customizable attributes, and such.
Drones and Androids share upgrade branches, "classes", functionalities, they can be given similar if not identical upgrades and gadgets, can even look the same sometimes, the functional difference being that Drones can use magic since they are still in part organic and have a soul, where as an Android, even if it has a soul inside of it be it because it is possessed or because it was actually built to hold a soul can't really use any magic system.
This means that overall there is more demand for Drones than Androids out there, although it is still seen as a touching subject because since day 1, Dronifying someone for the Tchelham Union is normally a punishment reserved for criminals with long sentences or who have committed very specific or very heinous crimes, they also dronify people of interest or who they deem too dangerous or too troublesome to be left around on their own, and more often than not they do use Drones as breeding stock to isolate specific genetic components they might have an interest in such as the case of druids or Founder descendants, more often than not also dronifying the resulting offspring since they are just an infant, although sometimes they just use them to give normal births and distribute them to couples and specific households in order to balance population numbers and a very specific variety of species as they see fit to keep the numbers stable inside their empire.
Where as Androids are considered to be a more accessible alternative easier to mass produce, more so because it does not involve the process of turning a living organic being into a machine and the fact they can't do magic also keeps a certain cost down that the Drones all come packaged with.
Both Androids and Drones have the option to be given a personality and memories, in the case of Drones it could be the ones from whoever they were originally before the transformation or someone completely different altogether, although the cases where this happens are very specific and situational.
On the other hand, dronification can sometimes be offered as an alternative for terminally ill or heavily crippled individuals who would be willing to go through it to have a second chance at life, they would become effectively technically immortal (unless destroyed ofc), and since they would be going through the procedure voluntarily and in specific situations, they would be allowed to keep their normal memories and personalities so they can keep on living as a machine from then on. And yes, there might be perfectly physically healthy people who offer themselves voluntarily for dronification, this can happen as well and some private entities would be more than glad to dronify them for a contract of sorts.
And just to clarify, I still love the normal standard furry drones out there, although my lore won't really have any of them for the tiem being, I might do a few of them in the future tho because darn I love furry drones ;3 (Tho they would still not be canon tbh)
So yeah! Wanted to do these alts if only for visualizing purposes.
