Anyway, you should look into why Pirates were so feared on the open seas. The idea was that if the pirates caught you, and you IMMEDIATELY SURRENDERED and gave up all your treasure, everyone would leave happy and mercifully unmauled. If you fight, you MIGHT win, but if you lose, they're going to make sure just enough of your crew survives to make it home to tell your family about the final screams of horror and agony you let out, so the next boat they stop doesn't make the same mistake.
