To get rid of (non-australian) spiders just put a plastic bowl over it, slide a piece of cardboard under the spider an carry that outside. It's not only nicer for the spider but also saves you the trouble of having to mop up the mess. Or leave it be if it's not in an awkward spot. Less mosquitos that way.
