Many who experience these attractions recognize them as harmful/dangerous and actively choose not to act on them at all, or do so through a safe outlet like art, as you said. These people do not identify with or promote “pride” of their attraction. People who use and create the flags aren't these people. Instead they tend to not see their attraction as something to manage or change. They publicly embrace it as part of their identity. The use of these “pride flags” are also often an attempt to normalize/legitimize their attractions, which is obviously actively harmful. I agree that those who want to change don't need singling out, but that's not what this post is doing. MAP/zoo flags are literally designed for people to single themselves out as not wanting to change.

I think the downvotes come from the fact that people mistook those flags for regular rainbow/pride flags or some variation thereof. I don't blame them. They're kinda similar visually.
