[@Ghostpikachu](/images/3797876#comment_11472409) Twilight mentions a couple spells. The soundproofing is a little weak, but the "Color Masking" spell seems to be pretty strong. Presumably, the point of that spell is to make it more more difficult to tell who is who based on color- we the audience are not affected by it, but Twilight presumably is. So she wouldn't notice the color of Shining's tail.
