It did have a bandage on the end of it but that seemed to be gone now. I am guessing it is keeping continuity to the last story where she ended up breaking her tail in a biking accident. She already had a crimp in her tail before and it was revealed that that was from a time when she had broken her tail before. In the bike accident, she says she broke her tail again in pretty much the same spot. I am guessing that breaking her tail in the same place it had broken before and never properly healed meant they couldn't save the end of her tail this time.
