There's something magical about autumn. The brilliant eruption of vibrant yellows, oranges and reds as the forest sheds it's summer green, the earthy smell of fallen leaves and their dry crunch under paw. And that first thrilling chill in the air when the oppressive heat finally breaks. And of course it also brings apple cider, pumpkin spice and spooky season. Unfortunately for a lot of us, autumn is slowly being smothered by prolonged summers that now seem to extend their reach all the way into October.

Luckily enough for these two, fall is in full swing one beautiful crisp evening. And while the leaves around them are dying and the trees are preparing for winter's slumber, something continues to quietly awaken and blossom between them. That warm feeling in their chests isn't entirely the cider's doing. Summer brought a lot of change to Tuxley's life, and as they always do, the winds of autumn will carry yet more.

So for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, while we still have a fall to enjoy, take the opportunity to get cozy with someone who makes you feel warm, grab a mug of hot cider, enjoy the crisp invigorating chill in the air, and take in the breathtaking display all around you.

I really wanted to do something autumnal, since I no longer live in a place where it exists and I really miss it. Hope you like this one. I had to go out and buy some apple cider while I was working on it.

Despite what the description may imply, this image doesn't really have a fixed context in Tuxley and Lyra's story as of yet, and in fact, it's jumping forward a bit. I'm working on the next real story with them, but progress is reeeaaallly slow and I don't have any idea when It'll be finished. But it'll take place pretty directly after the last one, so expect more late summer / very early autumn vibes than this.
