An example of gear used by Seamspace (coloquially Backrooms) explorers.
This guy's gear is of older date, surplus, but reliable enough.

The "Wallpuncher" is what allows safe and controllable access into Seamspace- the device detects naturally ocouring "holes" in reality and allows one to open them safely. If nescessary one can also use the device to make their own "holes", tho it's hard to do with a handheld version (power constrain).

The Displacer Pack - somewhat like an inflatible vest, if you look at dimensions like how you would look at diving or swimming. Modern versions safely "boot you out" of Seamspace and Void back into base reality thanks to attuned reality anchor.
Modified versions that feature a polarity switch exist (or are jurry rigged) that allow a rather dangerous manouver of "submerging" back into Seamspace or Void from base reality. Usual equipment of pirates and other criminals who use this dangerous manouver to evade capture. Older and jurry rigged versions tend to run a chance of teleporting you inside a wall.

Colour - stored in marked canister and part of Omnilympha injector. Seamspace has coloured atmosphere, but due to almost directly connecting to The Void, and itself also being rather unstable, having your own supply of colour and medicine to rapidly restore it is a nescessity. The injector is there for emergencies of being caught out in the open without your suit on - restores the full spectrum of colour, but won't save you if you can't evacuate into coloured atmosphere.
Prolonged exposure to colourless space has adverse effects - void poisoning starts out with symptoms not dissimilar to depression, but prolonged small dose or sudden exposure to high dosages results in discolouration and eventual cracked appearance, especially of the skin. Long term unprotected exposure will lead to death, tho on occasion the withered body might raise again, agressively searching for colour it now lacks.

Inspirations:

Colour and Void - inspired by The Void by Icepick Lodge, tho in their game it's far more ofan esotheric and hostile afterlife.

Wallpuncher - inspired by mix of I opened the walls and found something beautifull and Alien. The latter inspiration is most apparent as it resembles the motion tracker, but inspirations from the game (with quite a long title) by SlideshowDreams from Itch.io is connected to how it works and with a component I want to delve into with further artwork: the omnisphere, a ball that rotates in fourth dimension. This piece is wholy inspired by the SlideshowDreams' game, where protagonist learns how to travel the dimensions by observing a ball that "rotates in the unseen dimension".
Stabilizer charge and Displacer Pack - it's probably really obvious, inspired by

SCP's reality anchors. One is aportable "reality stabilizing C4" and the Displacer Pack came to my mind after concidering how people traversing other dimensions could "surface" in case of an emergency, one reason why the Pack looks a little bit like a parachute.
