When it rains, you put on a coat

So if Ethan's pokemon form is a farfetch'd... siblings? https://e621.net/posts/5067288

And later we learn that Alex's dad was a mayor wrestler or MMA fighter in his prime which is also the reason why Alex tanked Mandy's attacks. Can we please get the backstory of those two?

Meet The Flockers.

The Sirfetch'd looks like he enjoys sardines.

I bet they're going to really like the story of how they got together, especially since she was "his trainer" when they met.

And I gotta say, I had a short time today where I was like, wait a minute, Mandy commented that "Alex may have endured my Psyshock," and Farfetch'd/Sirfetch'd can learn Endure, and in the games at least, inherited moves usually come from the father...does that mean humans born of Pokemon/human parents can learn Pokemon moves and Mandy (who has a lot of combat experience) recognized him using Endure to survive getting hit?? ಠ_ಠ Then I was like, nah, it roughed him up but he really didn't look like he only had 1 "HP" left. ...Or did he...
Well, whatever it was, the important thing is that Alex has a scar so he can be proud of it. (So we confirm that Alex is a fighting/normal type guy, and the image of him receiving a potion is a good reference to the anime that potions do cause pain xD)
"neko-taro":/users/513780 said: Farfetch'd references? When?
Mostly "here":https://e621.net/posts/5397146 and he's wearing that shirt again during the fight, and I can't link the other b/c of ratings but the first picture he's tagged in has him in what looks like this same shirt from the back.
"yangyin":/users/1291285 said: I'm guessing interspecies breeding in Gamma's works functions the same way as it does in the Elder Scrolls series. The species of the child is always the same as the mother.

"neko-taro":/users/513780 said: That's what happens in Pokemon too. Very, very interesting nod to the games.

"virvaska":/users/2188253 said: So, by definition, it is impossible for two brothers to be of two different species (a human and a pokemon) if they are both born from the same mother?

"yangyin":/users/1291285 said: I think that's the case, though I don't know if Gamma has demonstrated otherwise in any previous work. I do know that there are some minor exceptions when it comes to Elder Scrolls, as well as exceptions that defy the set rules of interspecies breeding within ES (Alessia and Morihaus comes to mind on this particular instance). It would not surprise me if certain pokemon might also have special exceptions too, but I have yet to see it in Gamma's works.
I can't link it, but on Patreon, there's a comment that Gamma confirmed in the Discord when this was posted that, yes, this world follows Pokemon rules: Mother determines the species. Given Fuyuki was the only other confirmed parent (SO FAR :3) and had two Eevees by a human father, I kinda figured the same. No idea if it's an "anything can have kids with anything" world, but there we are for now, and if it means more couples as cute as the Partners, Alex's parents, and so on, I'll take it with a smile.
"lucaflowe":/users/26769 said: Well thinking about it, he did "faint" after getting hit for a bit. He might not have used endure but having pokemon genes does explain him being hardy enough to just get OHKO'd and not massacured like the humans in the memory.
Yah, agreed. I mean, I know in the anime, Ash has been electrocuted, set on fire, and otherwise abused enough to kill the average child many times over, but I had the same idea that it just might explain that about Alex. On the other hand, I'm probably overthinking this and maybe it doesn't matter, but Sirfetch'd and Galarian Farfetch'd are Fighting-type and that was a Psychic-type move (watered down genes? *shrug*). And not that we know what "They" were, on the other hand, and I'll bet not all of them were human.
"evertide":/users/413578 said: Holy...I knew that whatever came next for Vanessa and Alex, my heart wasn't ready for how happy it was going to be. And this is just so sweet! And...this really explains stuff about Alex, like the Farfetch'd references. Now it seems so obvious, I can't believe I didn't think of it. (Maybe also helps explain how he tanked a Mega Psyshock as well as he did...) And, not only do we finally have a Pokémon M/Human F couple, which I was really wondering if we'd see, but extra bonus, they're his parents! And I see where he gets his good looks and good nature from! And they already love Vanessa! My heart just overflows with positivity, I thank you ❤️
Farfetch'd references? When?

I like how consistent the world building is for gammainks setting. The offspring of the pair is the same species as the mother.

Yay! Mother clearly adores them both, and they even got The Thumbs Up from Papa!

This explains a LOT.

Wait,Alex's parent is also a BIRD????XDDDDD

And yeah, Mom is a cutie, which she sure passed onto her son and bears well for the grandEevee genes :3c

Also: absolutely gourgeous mother you have, rookie ;)
i daresay it's a Sirfetch'd based on the white feathers, beak and unibrow? on that note, he looks like a pretty rad dad, the kind you could share a drink with while having a deep convo. he's so proud of his son! small edit: I love the Finizen / Palafin on his hat, likely a Palafin based on his shirt text. Must be a baseball team? maybe he plays, or is just a fan...

Cool 'n' proud dad with adorable mother❤️
