This was the result of a few things coming together. I was directly inspired by a wonderful and thought provoking piece by Slappps on FA, who you should be watching if you like the bondage stuff I post.
It was a gibbet where the prisoner's legs and tail are completely exposed while a single, evil, nasty little bar between the legs keeps their upper half in place. As I was asking permission to steal this idea, someone in the audience suggested that I put Holly in the device. That reminded me of something I've been pondering: what color is she?
Those times I drew her in monochrome I never had a clear idea of her scale color - just the general value. Scalies in monochrome are quite ambiguous. First I experimented with a dark green, but... eh, I wasn't feeling it. I was kind of digging a simple red, but that was too bright and flamboyant. After experimenting with hues I landed on a sort of muted "cranberry" color that I liked. I think it matches up with her B&W appearances, and aligns more with the modest and submissive personality I imagine her having. Think less chile pepper, more cinnamon.
So there you have it: Holly color reveal. Since color was involved I took it upon myself to turn this into a complicated exercise in prismatic shading. I do want to make more colored art in the future, but for now I am sufficiently fatigued. Full res and a timelapse gif are on my Subscribestar.
