"It'th a very underrated magical girl anime from the 90s but it really laid the groundwork that defined later entrieth in the genre!! There's thith simmering intimacy between the two lead characters -  more than jutht friends, and the creatorth even went on record as thaying that they were always meant to be a [i] lot [/i] more. The fact that thith allowed the supporting male to act as more than [i] jutht [/i] a love interest and actually be an interesting character really helped make it clear that fans wanted something more than 'jutht fanservice,' they wanted characterth with complex and deep relationshipth!! The visual effects were also jutht revolutionary, and the creator of Mew Mew Kissy Cutie even cited them as a thource of inspiration for transformation sequences...!!"
