One day, Spike woke up.

Spike: (sighs) What a beautiful morning. What should I do? I know. I'll take a walk and see what's up in the neighborhood.

So he strolled around town. There were cars and trucks driving. There were dogs walking with their owners. There was construction, and many other things going on.

Spike: This is a wonderful neighborhood.

But when Spike kept walking, a snake saw him and wanted to be his friend. The snake appeared to be Snifty.

Snifty: He lookssss nice. I'll follow him.

So Snifty started following Spike quietly. Then Spike got the strange feeling that something or someone was following him. He turned around. But no one was behind him. Snifty was hiding.

Spike: That's strange. Hmm. Probably nothing.

But Snifty came out of her hiding spot and kept following. Spike was walking in city, but the feeling again.

Spike: Okay. Who's behind me?

He looked down and saw a snake.

Spike: Oh. Hello, snake.

Snifty: Oh Pleasssse. Jusssst call me Snifty.

Spike: I'm Spike. Nice to meet you. But what are doing in the city? It's not safe to be here.

Snifty: I was jusssst looking for a friend.

Spike: I can be your friend friend.

Snifty: Oh. Why thank you. Sssspike.

Snifty hugged Spike too tight. He started to groan.

Spike: Um. You're welcome. But that hurts.

Snifty: Ssssorry. I just love having new friendssss.

By nighttime, Spike was sleeping. But Snifty couldn't sleep. She wanted to have fun, even without Spike. So she slithered out of bed, and slithered out of the house.

She went to a zoo, but there were animals that didn't like snakes. So Snifty went to a restaurant. But some people got frightened by her. Everywhere she went, the more frightened everyone got.

Snifty was worried.

Snifty: Isn't there anywhere that I can make friendssss without them getting sssscared? (flicks her tongue out)

Snifty flicked her tongue out tasting the air of another place. She followed the scent. Then she arrived at a hotel.

Snifty: Aha. A hotel. I hope I scare anyone in there.

She entered through the doors. Then she hid in a plant until she saw another snake hiding.

Snifty: (hisses) Hello, handssssome.

The snake was also interested in Snifty when he saw her. They came close to each other. But someone saw them and kicked them out.

Snifty: Oh well. I'm Snifty.

Snake: My name issss Lou. Wanna go out?

Snifty: Of coursssse.

And they slithered off.
