Ch'o' looked at the river ways that he used so many times since he learned to raft. Just across was the lost clawscript waystone, it's true purpose lost even to the stories his tribe cherished. It marked the border up to where he was allowed to go. His tribe stretched beyond it, but only those who finished all the rites were allowed to pass.

One day he would earn the right to venture forth, and till then he would watch the unknown beyond the border, wondering if what he was searching for was waiting for him there.
