This image (snd these two comments) makes me think of… what is it again? I think it was a documentary about… snow leopards? Some large feline that is known to live a somewhat cold mountainous environment.
Specifically how during the mating season females do release scent and leave a trail (of piss) that says they are ready to mate, which attracts males.
The one in the documentary however was a mother, with it’s child following her. So when a male showed up the mother was trying to distract the male from her child with herself. This is because males of the species are apparently known to kill the children of other males… thinking about it, this seems to be a trait present in several big cats.
