Gau 8 fires 30mm, not 30 caliber. the M1919(predecessor to the famous .50cal M2) used .30cal and it was far far smaller
I'd wager around the size of two beer cans stacked on top of each other,little smaller than 30cal. That gun looks a little smaller than a gau 8 avenger which is what shoots the 30cal.
If heavy is like, 4-ish times the size of scout (who is 6"4), then how big are those bullets that he shoots?
