You are proud.

As you stand amongst the pod, they flex and each stiff pose is rewarded with a throb from the thermium. Stimulation is no longer something you have to physically inflict upon yourself, but a performance you take part in. It's almost a primal instinct to shift your weight and further the order that was given by the pod.

"you are assigned to display in confidence cultivation center B, you must obey."

You didn't understand what it meant until you and your fellow brothers and sisters were set to stand and pose. Immaculate bodies, immaculate synchronization, immaculate peace of mind. The thoughts that ran through the pod were allowed to roam. To praise themselves and their unity and their love for themselves. You are proud to be part of something so much bigger. They love you. You love yourself. It wasn't to merely be part of a menagerie. It was to share the love of your obedience with each other. As well as to allow the cameras to pipe that feed of your posing bodies to the wide web and sow the temptation to those looking to find that confidence themselves.

In the deepest recess of your thoughts, you fantasize someone on a computer drooling just a little at the sight of your body. Their fingers touching the screen as the words of the pod flooding your mind surrounded the swirling patterns of your pristine sculpted body. He wanted it. He needed it. Eventually he might stand and seek you out. stumbling into the right alley or volunteering for the right program.

You throbbed again. you are proud.

A societal construct we frequently neglect is self love. Only finding it through the accomplishment of tasks the larger collective deems valuable. As if our sense of self worth is only defined by how exploitable our talents are. Contributions to the whole is definitely an important aspect to a functioning society, but we mustn't bind it intrinsically to identity. We aren't loved because we are useful. A large aspect about drone service is through simpler tasks; learning to find pride in themselves. in the community they have. and in the confidence cultivation chamber, they're simply allowed to pose and bask in the smooth emptiness of burden free self love. They have no name, no self, yet perform anyway, given praise.  All this technology and infrastructure just to give them that sense of purpose. What a gift. Their labor is not their identity, because drones have no identity. They are loved and they love themselves because it contributes to bettering themselves and a compassion to see others find that themselves.  It's not arrogance, but a softer, more profound self actualization that runs parallel to their obedience. Because they're worth it.

Because you're worth it.

This was posted about 2 years ago but I got so backed up and distracted that I never got a chance to post it. It's a lovely piece so I wanted to give it a little short to go with it.

It was commissioned by someone but I never got their name.
Artwork by Hombre_Essence. Thank you for the picture.
