Might be time to start taking this seriously, huh? :3

would it be possible for her to create a giant hidden web in the grass so when she steps on a string the hadelen reacts and forms a spike near that spot?
In a serious fight, a cut to the brow or forehead is a nasty tactic if one can't quite get close enough to groove the cranium behind it. Blood in one's eye when trying to defend is kinda problematic, and head wounds infamously bleed rather a lot.

Seeing how writers handle their protagonists genuinely get hurt and potentially have their lives hanging by a string, hopes and as little plot armor as possible. The small cut above her eye: simple, nearly does nothing, shows that this fight is serious. Slashed shoulder: potentially disabled her left arm, chance of victory has dropped considerably, chances of survival dropping. Depending on how this fight turns out, she may end up more hurt than vix back in the earlier chapters of T.O.T, and feretta takes injuries with nearly 1-1 accuracy.
Yeah, this man gets it! Let them bleed, let them get crushed! Their future moment of glory will be all the greater for it.

Liz over here not merely controlling the tempo of the battle but making it 148 bpm and not giving Nyo even a chance to get in step. Panel 6 is 100% what some people here are suggesting: Nyo tries to throw up spikes to take advantage of Liz pressing her advantage via constantly charging as she forces Nyo back, and Liz simply stops on a dime and laughs about it. This is an appropriate time for Nyo to be considering how she can possibly GTFO.

Plus that amount of control is no simple feat in itaelf, and would most likely require a serious amount of concenetration--assuming it is possible to do. Which makes it that much more difficult to do when your opponent constantly has you on the backfoot, not allowing you to press any form of offense.
She managed to pull spikes from the ground mid fight there. And overconfidence in your victory can have even seasoned fighters overlook things.....to err is huma....dragon XD

Use hadalen to have a plate beneath her footing shift and topple her over. Should be easy enough to hide in the grass when you are retreating away from the fire (Shadows make it harder to see) and you get an easy platform to create spikes or shackles she cant flee from mid fall
Liz is a seasoned warrior; it would be very hard to catch her off guard at this point. Yes, I like when an opponent makes the main character(s) sweat the red, and show that they got more to learn. Would love to see Fen realize in combat that sparing and beating up bandits is nothing like facing experienced opponents that does not hold back or sympathize.
