MY PLACE s01:e33 - Seashells by the Seashore
On my way back to the beach, not really looking where I was going, I bumped into Simon.
“Hey buddy” he laughed “What’s up? You in a rush to get somewhere?”
“I gotta get a seashell, man”
Gulliver was still there when me and Simon made it down the slope. He was sitting pretty close to the water, as if the tide didn’t bother him. Simon said that we may as well collect as many as our pockets could hold so that I could trade them in at ReTail for bells. He’s such a nice guy. When I find a way home, I’ll write him a letter. No idea how he’ll receive it, but… whatever.
“So, why are you in such a rush to get a seashell?” he asked.
“No particular reason” I lied “It’s mayor stuff.” I’m not sure why I didn’t just tell him the truth. Would it sound weird if I said it was for Isabelle? I like to think I played it cool back at town hall. Stubbed my toe on the door frame as I walked out, but other than that I kept my composure. Which was hard, because she was killing me with that little episode of hers. Her face when she said that stuff about shells almost put Bluebear to shame in terms of raw cute power– how could I not drag myself down here?
“Hey, Gulliver” Simon called to the docile seagull “what kinda shell is this?”
“You know him?” I asked.
“Yeah. I’m usually the one that finds him washed up here. It happens more often than you’d think…”
Gulliver looked over to the shell Simon held high in his hand, not bothering to get up.
“That there looks like a Venus Comb Shell, which is weird, because its terrible at combing hair. Believe me, I’ve tried. It might come from Venus though, so I’ll give it a pass like the noble sailor I am”.
“What about this one?” asked Simon, this one flat and yellow-y.
“That be a sand dollar, my boy”
“What about this one?” I asked, trying to see inside the one I had picked up.
“That’s a Hermit Crab”
"I see..." I said through tears of pain.
~Author’s Notes~
Can’t decide whether I like this pic or not.
I think I made a lot of mistakes, but the colours are very nice.
I guess it’s fine.
After a lazy and ego-driven guy finds himself in a wild world populated with talking animals, he is inexplicably made the mayor of a quiet little town and given the unthinkable burden of responsibility.
