Watching sex wouldn't give a volume measurement. Most veterinary or bioscience semen samples are collected with either an artificial vagina or manual stimulation. Samples are taken from pretty much everything at some point either for scientific study of their reproduction and biology or for breeding programs. You can learn a lot about an organism from its bodily fluids.

farms often use mounts and stuff to collect semen from animals for testing virility and breeding capabilities, that's all i really know
