[b][u]MY PLACE s01:e26 - The New Neighbour[/u][/b]

[i]I wasn’t even done packing when I heard a knock at my new front door.
“It’s open” I said with a sigh. I really didn’t wanna bother with housewarmings until I was finished emptying these boxes. To be honest, I didn’t want any housewarmings whatsoever. I came to Place as an escape from city life, to finally be away from everything… and everyone.

In came a strange looking creature with hardly any fur to speak of, with the exception of his scruffy, brown hair on the top of his head. He kinda looked like a shaven monkey. Anyway, this dude came in with a cocksure attitude that didn’t quite mesh with his awkward appearance.

“Morning, neighbour” he said after some slight hesitation “Just moved in?”

I was carrying a box, surrounded by many other boxes. What did he think?
I registered this as a desperate attempt at small talk, something I never want to endure.

“Uh, yeah” I replied “I’m Alice”
After exchanging names, he told me that he had moved in just two days ago and ensured me that ‘we’re both in this together’ or something cheesy like that. He didn’t bring it up, but I just know that he was distracted by my nose. You sorta have to expect that as a koala, but I was cursed with having one that’s not only big, but bright red too. If anything, its worse that he didn’t mention it, as if I was oblivious to his passing glances.

“I live right next door” he said, pointing to his house through the window. “Figured I’d just drop by and say hi. Make you feel welcome. All that jazz.”

“Thanks. We can hang out later” I said, with no intention of doing so “I kinda wanna settle in first.”

“Gotcha, gotcha…” he said back, making these weird finger-gun gestures like some greaser who got lost on his way to the 1950’s. “I guess I’ll see you around then, Alice!”

“Yeah, see ya”

He tripped over one of the boxes on his way out, falling to the floor with dramatic fashion before proclaiming: “I’m alright!” about 5 times over. It was kinda cute, but also particularly frustrating since I’m pretty sure I heard something break inside the box.

Later on, I was horrified to learn that the weirdo who had smashed my china plates wasn’t just some nutcase with nothing better to do. That, disturbingly, was the mayor.[/i]

Introducing a little shake-up to the formula!
Much like the mayor, Alice will also evolve throughout her time in Place. Notice how she’s also particularly anti-social? Perhaps she and the human have more in common than she dare imagine…

After a lazy and ego-driven guy finds himself in a wild world populated with talking animals, he is inexplicably made the mayor of a quiet little town and given the unthinkable burden of responsibility.
