Those who pursue lichdom typically do not care about following the rules.
That being said, the canonical reason for why we don't have detailed instructions on how to become a lich, is because the ritual for doing so is an extremely personalized thing.
Nearly every lich has researched and developed their own personalized approach to achieving immortality. Analiomus can point her in the right direction, but it's ultimately up to Medea to decide how this is going to work.

In this comic set alone Medea has shown that she has many bodies she can inhabit. The body Circe is currently in was one that Medea used to be in. Medea could very well have used her own [i]original[/i] heart for the ritual and it is just that doing so does not prevent her from having [u]a[/u] heart in whatever body she is using at the time.
