Recently I managed to acquire a second-hand Erica Syntrix which is the nearest thing available to an EMS VCS/3. Of course, the first thing I did with it was set it up to make something like the drone from Pink Floyd's "Obscured By Clouds". This instrumental fell out of those experiments.

It doesn't have a name yet, but most of my compositions are numbered, and this one turned out to be 400. (Note: Some songs, especially the first album, had more sensible names such as "tentacle.cwp" or "fearfly.cwp", thus there are more than 400 compositions. But the vast bulk of them are dead ends - I had made it to at least 76 before the first album was finsihed)

Usually I would track these to 2" tape and mix them to 1/4" with any editing (AAD in the old compact disk terminology). However, this version is almost a raw playback from the 2" multitrack, straight into the DA3000 recorder (ADD in the same terminology). It sounded good enough to release as a rough demo, at least.

Instruments used:

*Erica Syntrix

*Roland M-VS1, JV1010, MKS50

*Hammond XM-1

*Behringer Solina

*Moog Voyager

*Manikin Memotron

*Alesis DM10 drum brain
