Once again the bell jingles, it's notes bouncing from wall to wall till it's noise is silenced by rain.
Anton Heavenspeak, an average Charmander by all counts, laid on his back in the center of his home. The small Pokemon drowned out the sound of his internal screaming, using the calm of his silver bell collar and the rain outside.
He let out a pained sigh, rolling onto his belly, and felt a shift in the air. The mander believed that it was the weight of his backpack pressing into him that caused it, but remembered the last time it rained like this.
"Amare I swear to Arceus if you are here again..." Yet there was nothing upon the call of the mander's words.
The fire-type got to his feet and shuffled over to a stone table, unslinging his yellow backpack and digging within for a deck of cards. "Maaaagic!" He said, putting all 100 cards on the table to enjoy. "It's the universe's best played card game!" The mander got to digging around in his backpack and produced some coins. He placed them on the stone table and hopped up onto the chair closest to him.
"Hmmm, this chair seems oddly more cozy than mere stone." Anton said, looking up to find a pair of eyes glaring right back down at him.
"What a lovely little one~"
The charmander swiftly rolled off the creature's lap and scooted over towards his lava pit. "Get back demon! I know fireball!"
As Anton charged a seed of flame within his throat, the mystery guest revealed themselves by forming a corporeal shell in the shape of a Hisuian Typhlosion, Kura.
Kura, unlike most of his kind, was much more pale in his underside and black shadow echoed over his backside. Their neck flame flourished only upon the cleansing of a raging spirit, or as a delight upon pranking their friend. "Hey there Anton, Good to s-"
The ghost-type tilted their head to the side to avoid a raging fire-blast coming their way. "Wow, I just wanted to play Magic with you."
Anton's eyes widened. "Wait...you're not here to do some weird ghost stuff where I end up being enthralled into fucking you...right?"
Kura looked left, then right, returning to the guarded Charmander. "N...not unless you want me to?"
"AH...well...no, I don't. But I really do want to play Magic!" Anton called out. He started to walk towards the table once more, but stopped in a curious sort of caution. "....Will Amare be joining us?"
The typhlosion blinked and nodded "...Nice shadow" Kura said, pointing down at Anton's legs.
"Hu-h?" The mander turned and looked around his lower half to see just what his friend meant. However there wasn't much of anything. Then it finally dawned on him that his shadow was missing. "No! NO! WE ARE NOT DOING THIS GHOSTLY GHOST STUFF. GIVE IT BACK AMARE!"
"Nu~ beat me in MtG and you can have your shadow back." That was Amare's voice, the ghost and electric-type Pikachu. Amare was smaller than most of his kind, with snow white fur and green accents. His electricity was of emerald green, and crackled within his black circle cheeks. The chu let out a cackle and soared up from the ground and gracefully landed on one of the stone chairs to the left of his brother, Kura.
Anton put on his backpack and darted towards the stone table. Such determination had caused the Typhlosion to jump up and across the table from where the Charmander would be sitting. He gracefully sat up and cleared his throat. "So, three-player Commander?"
Both of the little Pokemon nodded.
"Then lets shuffle..."
...Ten minutes later...
"I'm Done!"
"Done!"
"Alright what are we all running?"
Anton got the first words out, proudly exclaiming his deck's power. "Hydras! Multiple heads will gobble you goobers up!"
Amare cackled and shook his head. "Anton that deck is going to be a fat brick in your hands. I doubt it's constructed properly! Anyway, you'll be dragged under by my Mana Curve Meren"
Kura sighed and shook his head in disappointment. "I'm a little off that you would use that meta deck Amare, especially against someone who is new like Anton. Shaaaaaame."
The ghost-chu dashed up onto the stone table and pointed at the Typhlosion. "Yeah, and what are you running HMMMMM?" He waggled his finger in his brother's direction before getting a mumbled response from him.
"tri..pl....ehem."
"Couldn't hear that, wanna try again?"
"Sen Triplets."
"I'm not fighting Anton, no offense buddy." Amare said, looking back at his orange friend.
Anton pulled a soda can from his backpack and put his right hand under the flap. "None taken"
CHCK...CHUNK The fire-type took a sip of his drink.
Amare returned to his seat and placed his commander on the table. "Meren of Clan Nel Toth."
"Yeah that's not broken..."
Anton put his can of soda on the table and flipped over his own Commander. "Zaxara, The Exemplary!"
Both Kura and Amare turned to look at the Charmander. "Deathtouch?" "Two mana tap." "And a spawner of tokens requiring X cast costs..."
"...Your Commander Fucking Sucks" They said in unison.
Anton belched a lick of flame and shook his head. "Nu uh! We rolling for turn?"
Kura looked past Amare and shook his head. "Nah, you go ahead."
The charmander drew from his deck and placed the card in his hand. "I draw for turn, place an island, and pass my turn to....um..."
"I'll draw..." Kura placed his hand on his deck and blinked, placing a card on the field. "...place an ancient tomb and tap it, losing two life, to place an Arcane Signet...passing it to Amare."
Amare looked over at Kura, pissed at his good hand, and then looked at his seven cards. He put his hand on the deck and pulled a single card. "I draw one card on my draw step and place a Swamp. That'll do for now."
Anton...gulping down his soda, put the empty can on the ground and stomped onto it.
CRRRNCH
The Charmander shook his head and took a deep breath. "I draw...Oooo! I play Lair of the Hydra! Since I control less then two lands it isn't tapped!"
The ghostly-chu shook his head. "No no, because now you DO control two or more lands. It enters tapped."
"...Oh...." He said defeatedly. "I end my turn." Anton laid his hand of cards down, face down, and got into his yellow backpack.
Kura drew from his deck of cards and looked through his hand. Then he checked the field. "I'll place Cascading Cataracts on the land zone and..."
"Hey is there any cards in your hand that don't suck?" Amare chirped, while Anton got a small beer-like bottle from his backpack. "Whoa, it's only a game Anton no need to visit depression land."
The Charmander shook his head and brought the cap down onto the stone table, snapping it off with a satisfying sizzle of the carbonated beverage. "I'm an adult, and I can be responsible!"
"I suppose that is true...just take it easy, okay?" Amare looked over the field and waited once more for Kura to play.
"I end my turn, don't have any colors yet."
The chu smirked "Ha! Shows you for stacking your hand."
"Uh huh, stacked it with a few colorless manas and a couple bricks. Just for you."
Amare drew a card from his deck and....
...Thirty Minutes Later.
Amare turned his sol ring and a few lands to summon his Commander: Meren of Clan Nel Toth The point of the commander was to graveyard re-curve early on in the game, with the use of experience counters. It would help refill the board after battles. It had taken so long to get it all together due to drawing some of the more expensive cards without additional lands. "...I end my turn."
Anton smiled and felt a slight flush in his cheeks. He had gone from beer to whiskey, to scotch. The next bottle he pulled out of his bag was Absinthe, something that caused both of the ghost types to freak out. "I..r...aw" He slurred, looking at the unimpressive card for a bit, before placing it in the middle of his hand. "Tap fiv..for Urza" The charmander began to shuffle his deck and set the slightly off-balance deck back onto the table. He pulled the card from the top and his eyes widened.
A bolt of lightning crashed outside, as the Charmander grew the biggest smile over his mouth. He began to laugh and hiccup. "Fugg..in play PROGENITUS!"
"...WHAT!?" Kura lurched over the table as he witnessed a miracle. One of the most powerful cards, with divine protection from everything, had just landed on the field without paying it's mana-cost. Such a draw was nothing short of Arceus's will being displayed. The Typhlosion sunk back into his chair and blinked.
"Endin...turn" Anton said, laying his head on his right arm and staring at the bottle of Absinthe he believed he'd need to take.
The ghost-type Typhlosion let his head hit the stone table and took a deep breath. "Alright, you win chief, I concede." He said, putting his hand on the table. It was possible for him to bounce the spicy multi-headed silly boy, but he just didn't want to sit through eight-hundred and a half draws to get the right cards.
"My turn? Yeah, My turn, I draw for turn and...Is Progenitus your best card Anton?" Amare asked, politely.
"Mmnhaannmmfff, you bet your sweet bippy it issh...Protecshun from everyfing."
Amare tapped two swamps and two colorless mana lands, playing one card on the table. "Damnation, Destroy all Creatures."
Anton climbed up onto the table and flopped down onto the flat of it. He looked deep at the card and red it's effects. "Destroy all Creatures. They can't be regenerated." The Charmander took a deep breath. "Protecshun From EveRTYTHING."
Amare shook his head "No, that effect means it cannot be targeted specifically by anything. However mass death effects can bounce the thing into non-existence."
"Buulllllllll........" Anton got to his knees and shivered. "...member when...I....." He then leaned back too far and fell off the stone table, landing on the ground with a meaty thud, and falling asleep.
"I have no idea who is supposed to win...Did he hit his head?"
"You are able to see souls, is his still in that meat suit?" Amare questioned, gathering up their cards. "It was retorichal, of course they are still breathing. Hardy little guy. He went from soda, to beer, to whiskey, to scotch, and I think he sipped some gin while I was going through my library." Amare looked down at the cute, drunk, unconscious Charmander and phased through the tables and chairs. He reformed and gave his fire-type lizard a big hug. "It was nice playing with you Anton, glad we could have fun that didn't involve hardcore slam-firing, bedrock cracking, Earth sundering, llllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww-"
"The writer is fucking tired and at work, please lets just bounce."
"Yup, k-bye :D"
