Part 4. Vibrations.

I remembered this time to stay focus on following the creature and not drift off looking at all the outside stuff going on. It was another short walk about as we zigzagged about through the tunnel system that lead to another chamber.

This time the next room seemed more like a room rather than a bubble of sorts like the last. This one seemed like my dream as i entered it being white for a moment making it hard to see anything inside the place. But after me and the guard walked a bit ways in. The guard stopped and looked at me. “Stay here and the guardian will run you through the course of understanding.” The voice inside my head said as the guard soon turned and walked off vanishing from my sight after a few feet away. After about 2minutes. The room soon turned a standard room feel white to semi brown to keep a better feel to the place.

“Com restriction retracted. Open coms now enabled.”

“Finally i can speak! Whew.”

“Yeah. What’s this course now?”

I stayed silent as i could faintly see other shadows of creatures in the room. The poor vision didn’t help. And since it was a much larger room everyone seemed more spaced out.

“Welcome. Here you’ll be here to test and understand your new form of hearing in your words. You’ll learn to hear from the vibrations and understand how to adjust your spines to different waves.” A guardian soon spoke up as i could see a larger figure ahead of me.

“This oughta be interesting.”

“Still can’t believe we're aliens. Like dude. Totally epic.”

“Shush.”

I could hear the others speaking.

Soon something made me perk my head and back spines as i could feel a weird wiggle to them. It was low but i could feel it. Somehow i could feel it translate into sound like i was hearing the sounds of a forest. From bugs, to rustles of leaves, and soon many other things slowly rose up as the vibration wave got stronger. I felt the sound waves hit my spines and my mind render it into audio sound of noise i knew.

“Now. Understand your new hearing form.” The guardian told us as the vibration sound waves shifted from forest to city noises.

The new noises made me lower my spines as the vibrations got heavier or in so louder, like i didn’t need to keep them perked to snag as much noise as i could. But i also was able to somehow mentally adjust the loudness not only from the vibrations hitting my spines. But also internally change the way of hardness of how intense of vibration i managed to receive. With enough thought to it. I could mute it out completely. Like somehow i stiffened my spines up from reacting with the sound waves in the air.

The guardian could sense the information from their specialized antenna’s to ours and knew how we were functioning in reacting. “Very nice. You are quite a natural to this.” I heard the guardian comment to me.

Suddenly the sound stopped for a moment. Before after the next moment caught some of us offguard as the sound waves were like someone screaming heavily.

“Holy moly what the heck is that?!”

“Dude why is that so loud?!”

I could hear the mental thoughts of others as we got fired on with heavy sound. I closed my eyes and adjusted my stance to let my spines stop the noise. Then after i opened my eyes and growled to myself.

“Now try adjusting faster.” The guardian mentioned and ran us for few more trials on understanding the sensitivity of our spines. Making us adjust the tightness and way they stood on our bodies to learn how to pick up faint sounds before getting suddenly attack of high intense sounds like explosion or someone screaming and we had to adjust to change our ‘volume’ listening to it.

I think it was like 30mins or so of getting ran through the course of training to be aware of our new ‘hearing’ mode as the guardian explained. They told us that it was our only form of sense for hearing what is going on. As our human like ears we had on our head didn’t work. And our nose had no smell sensory inside it. Our eyes were poor as piss. So only thing we could rely on were our spines to know stuff around us well and use that tiny amount of vibration to understand what is happening around each of us. Understanding the air movements and different waves of the air’s current known as sound waves. And it wasn’t just speaking sound waves of noise waves. We could hear more broader spectrum of vibrations then any other creature and adjust to hear or feel those than we could as humans that were limited in what amount of tone waves were transmissible to the ear. And how we now had ways to even ‘mute’ the outside world was pretty nice as we could internally adjust the intensity volume we could ‘hear’ to now blow out our supposed ‘eardrums’ unlike before.

“You seem like you understand. So if you wish to move on you can little one.” The guardian said to me in my mind.

“I will.” I mentioned back and soon a guard walked up to me to motion to follow once again that i could see semi clearly of.

“Com restriction reenabled.” The systems went on again as i soon followed the guard out of the large chamber noise room and once again down another set of tubes.
