Every Trainer that can be petted has some places where they especially like to be petted and some places where they dislike being petted, but until the Trainer has more than 0 affection, these places are treated no different from neutral spots. Petting a Trainer generally increases their affection, but not if they are petted in a disfavoured spot, and lowers their enjoyment.
