Out of the Disney style sketches I've done, strangely I've found drawing my main character Domino to be one of the most difficult. It's challenging for me because as far as I know, there are no animated guinea pigs in any of Disney's movies, and no, G-Force does not count. I'm looking at 2D animated characters, not realistic CGI. The closest I had to reference were rodent characters like the mice in Cinderella and Bernard from the Rescuers. I did a bunch of face sketches trying to figure out what a Disney style guinea pig could look like, trying to adjust how chubby Domino's head would be, what the shape of his head would be, and the shape of his rodent nose and whether to do a button-nose or more realistic looking guinea pig nostrils. Ultimately, I tried going with a look similar to Bernard. I'm not sure I'm really satisfied with how this looks though. If only I could see how a Disney animator would draw a guinea pig... wait, I did see a Disney animator draw a guinea pig! I went to Mouse Con Concord earlier this month and met Rick Farmiloe, an animator who worked on Scuttle, Le Fou, and Abu! I got an art commission from him where he drew Domino! So now I can say Domino has been drawn by a Disney animator, lol. You can see Rick's version of Domino here https://bsky.app/profile/guineapigdan.bsky.social/post/3la5ojpz33k2m and sooner or later, I'll upload a video of him drawing Domino!
