Chapter 9
Good things come to those in an AirShip.


Flight over canopy seem peaceful today on island, Dr Cortex certainly feeling it himself and the overwhelming jubilation he now had his lady of luck back with him, be honest thing seem be turning down bad for over last months, his investment gone low again he been trying on new line business and fill his bank accounts, last few experiments he tried on with his new mutanterizer on animals with mojo worked so well and tried to again get crash while it had worked.. But things in the end don't work out simple for him, failing to mutate Crash and just make him stronger, steal his remote to the machine, left him in a pile of batteries and lab clean up.*Crash of the Titans Short - "Monster Truck*.


Doctor hopes things now turn around for him,  ah he only thinks of the wonderful times ahead now, what kind of wonderful experiments they will make together now he has his magic expert here.


Dr Cortex had been so deep in thought he only focused back in the moment he noticed the temple coming closer.


“Will be landing soon, so we hope you enjoyed the flight,” Dr Cortex joked heartily.


Steph looked over at him quizzing what he was talking about, planes not something in common use over her world so the joke went over her head.


Soon enough Dr Cortex came around the top temple platform where his proud AirShip anchored at, Dr Cortex clicked a button on his wrist watch, the bay doors opened up, let him in, the hoverboard docking in the loading bay and he landed.


So Dr Cortex landed and steph let go of the doctor, she got her feet onto more solid ground of the loading bay with haste to get off the hoverboard. 


Cortex turned around and shrugged, he stepped off his hoverboard. “ and this my dear is my airship.. Only way to fly.”


Steph just looked over to him “ well air balloons are comfortable and smooth to ride on.”


Dr Cortex scrutinized that. “ Oh no no, my airship is way better than an air balloon.. riding around in big machines and whatnot, it's very stimulating.” he smirked, putting his hands together. 


“If you say so..” she gave a soft giggle at his manner describing his airship.


“Now please my dear, come this way to the observation deck, show more of the island along the way back to my .. hmm our home.” he corrected himself, guess now be hers temporary even still. 


He opened his palm out to her to join him, she obliged him by placing her hand into his, he grinned. “ I have a lovely lil place to sit and watch up on the deck, care for some tea too my dear.”  He rather enjoyed this, nickname came so joyfully to use then just use around family.


“I wouldn't disagree with having tea.” She followed him around to the upper deck.


“Excellent..!” he showed up to the deck, n.gin at the helm waiting. “ n.gin!, i'm back with our guest, this is Dr n.gin my dear. “ he brings steph up to deck to meet his loyal cohort.


Ngin turned around when the master returned, though the strange lady was a new face, he gave a nervous gitty giggle, tho didn't expect a lady to be the guest. “ ah.. How you doo.” he couldn’t say much before his nerves gave in.


Steph didn't flinch away from the robotic voice but it was nice to see the real person behind the holograms she saw. “ nice to meet you Dr n.gin.”


Ngin looked a bit alert but happy, he wondered who the strange lady was and why Dr Cortex seemed to be so.. Cheery? His master seems to have a rather happy aura about him. “Oh, is the lady staying with us? Master.”


“Yes n.gin, miss.. Oh ..steph will be staying with us temporarily, and she will be treated with utmost respect as our benefactor, she is one who helped in investing us and partner in part our cooperation now. " Dr Cortex explained. “She will be our magic expert for the mojo project we've been working on..”


Steph listens intently to what the Doc was explaining but she seems to stare at her doctor dearly.


“Oh that is.. Nice. then ah.. Welcome aboard I guess hehe.” n.gin listening to facts given to him.


“Thank you n.gin, happy to help.“ She gave her best smile to the cyborg.


“Now n.gin, set a course for home but.. Take the long route around the island so I can show my lovely new guest tour of the island." Dr Cortex explains the plan to n.gin. “ We will be in my private observation room. My dear this way if you follow.” he clicked his heels and presented her a lil stairway way down under helms deck area, he bent over to show the way.


Steph walked over to to where he stood, she she placed her hand under his chin and stroked a finger through his beard, it gave Dr cortex such a jolt shiver up his spin and big giddy smile, she walked in front him and down the stairs his gaze followed her down the stairs.


Ngin watched this whole display.. Was there something going on with his master and this lady? 


Dr Cortex seemed only able to get his gaze away from his guest, he looked back at n.gin and straightened himself up, he gave a cough covering his mouth, he nodded to n.gin get going with a stern look.


Ngin turned around and got the airship going, what the heck was all that about.

Down under the deck in a nicely adorned room under helm, the observation room looked like a more private lounge room, adorned with a portrait of Dr Cortex himself and a portrait of a young girl with blue skin on one holding a crushed teddy bear. The girl had metal hands, wss this Nina? .. suppose the n on her head seemed maybe it was a family member.


Steph looked around the rest of the room, seemed to have bolted down furniture, amazing large open glass windows showing the view of the airship moving, she stepped closer to the window to see the island, it was a pretty amazing view. “ Now I see why he bragged about his airship.. This is pretty nice.”


“I'm glad you agree!”  said the doctor, voice behind her.


Steph turned to look back and Dr Cortex came down the stairs to join her. “ It's the only way to fly.” he walked around his observation room, to where an electric tea kettle was. “please my dear, make yourself feel right at home, my casa so casa as they say.”


She walked over to where a set up lounge and coffee table point to the front windows, shaped like a round 80s sunken lounge and coffee table. 


She placed her bag off to the side. Sitting down in a velvet purple lounge, very nice touch style.”Aye so this where make your moves on your dates hmm… velvet lounges, wide view windows of breathtaking serene view and be part of the mile high club?.”


She heard some china behind her clatter, ”you ok back there.?” She turned her head and looked back at the doctor.


“Yes everything is fine my dear. “ he said. While waiting for kettle to boil, it was hard enough him try keep his cool and his wits sane while she there looking beautiful at the windows light shining onto her face and form, trying his best keep it cool and just lose himself, go over there sweep her back, lay long devouring kiss again and more…he wanted make himself look gentleman like to impress her all way back to lair, then she goes make actual sex joke… that not help keep himself together, he forgotten how brash and forward her manner was, but so freeing she didn't care making those kind of joke..thing admire about her personality.


Dr Cortex placed out his own adorned china on a tray he took deep breaths, a man like him with such awakened feelings after so long waiting for her comeback was already driving him mad, he was a man after all and so much he could handle.


With kettle boiled he made up tea, grabbed a bag of oreos and placed the cookies out onto a tree plate, making sure all looked perfect. He picked up a tray and brought it over to the lounge and set it on the coffee table. “ Here you go my dear. And some local Earths famously fav cookies Oreos to try.”


“Ooh” she leaned over to take a cookie to see, she looked over while Dr Cortex went to sit down next to her and make up the tea cups ready.


“They looked like chocolate melting moments?” she said


“Well they are similar to them but smaller and biscuit is not like shortbread.”  He said he poured out some tea.


“ ohh so we're a cookie connoisseur now?”, she went and twisted the oreo apart and she went smell the cream part, and then took a long lick over the cookie sweet icing filling “mmm” she licked over.


While she was doing that, Dr cortex took a glance up while pouring, tho stared at the scene of her licking the frosting off with the cookie, his mind certainly observing that cookie frosting getting licked to much and imagine it was something else she was licking, memories of night of passion her realms bedroom, her tongue licked her lips of the frosting as she moaned delight to sweet treat, Cortex lost in his own thoughts not focus on pouring.


Steph licked the cookie clean, she stopped looking over to the doctor staring at her intently and him pouring tea into the overflowing teacup.  “Doc the tea.”


Dr Cortex seemed to come back to focus, he moved the pot up looking at what he did, he made a mess, he put the kettle to the side, he growled to himself being so distracted in the moment making mistakes.


“Don't worry I got it.“ she said before he get himself upset, she waved her hand to puddle of tea on table, her magic made tea water on the table move up into air like liquid ball sphere, she lean over to open top kettle and let sphere of tea settle back into tea pot, leaving the table dry.


Dr Cortex watched the scene, seemed so handy to have that magic, she was amazing more than ever. “as magical as ever you are my dear.” he pouted a bit he was already fuddling up in front of her.. But she seems to help fix another thing for him again.


Steph gave a performance bow setting there “ and for my next trick.. I’ll make this cookie disappear.”
She showed the 2 piece cookies in her hand “ now you see it..” she popped into her mouth and chewed the cookie. “ mmff now you don't!.” she muffled out a cookie stuffed in her cheek.


That seems to give cortex a soft chuckle, she seems to always try to make sure he is in a good mood. “ bravo..” he said softly.


Steph seems to feel the doctor in a better looking mood, she smiles.” you seem to be distracted doc, very melancholy there.”


Doc took a sharp breath in, he straightened up, he was put on the spot seeing him make a mistake, “ oh just remembering our time together in the dragon realm…” what he could say, he remade himself a new cup, he looked out the window and distracted himself from his thoughts.


“Oh look my dear, already coming to one of many wonderful and horrible places on the island, mount grimly passing by.. It's supposed to be a haunted mountain of island residents” he muttered with locations. “ oh then there's a little Wumpa town. Very quaint small town for mutants.. “ he pointed side the window.


As the doctor muttered on location, steph did hear him and his talk of his island home but her gaze shifted onto more observing the doctor face, his debonair face was of her interest in the moment.


She look at his features, it was wonderful to see him again, he was keeping up with his looks she see groomed hair and face, maybe still using that gift of wizard beard comb still, cute mustache over top his lips as he spoke, when he tweaked at it its tip moment contemplating thought.

“And there whole ranch of forest where i been trying get hold on over lumberyard, most tree are deceased and diseased so needed be cut down anyway. Dr cortex stared back at her, she acting coy now…” what you mean out of hand.?” he leaned in over closer.


“Oh just you seem to be staring as much as me. “ she winks.

Steph was in her own mind after listening to the doctor explain more about the island.. She enjoyed the moment when she thought of her son Zaran, he loves to be in new places, he had just as much fun exploring his heart like herself, her expression faulted when she heard the doctor question, she lifted her gaze up to him. “ oh.. No, it's not you.”


She sighs softly, “I was distracted with not seeing my Zaran during the times I have come here. I'm gonna be missing so much bonding time with him.” she sighs softly. “But not your problem doc. I did agree to this in contract, i just have to try to schedule around making sure i time be with him as i can." She put up a smile on her face so as not to worry the doctor.


Dr Cortex skewed his eyes but looked away in thought, even though she said not him worry, he now realized he was causing a drift of her from her precious child.


The gears in doctor head turned to solutions this dillama, it certainly not be good if she was depressed whole time while here about this, like his own mother he didn't have lot time his own cause mother had work put him and his sibling through academy school..guilt pitted there in his stomach, and such rare thing him feel actual guilt.


Then an idea clicked in his head, it might just work. “ well..” he said softly, he placed his teacup on the table, he folded his arms but lifted one hand in the air, finger pointing to the ceiling. 


“There is a solution you could, you know.. Bring your son to the island if you think it's ok, the nearby Wumpa town has a school and preschool for new mutant kids. There has been a growing population on the island since a year ago.. It is a very civilized town and I try not to disturb the town since it started a pretty good local economical advance to the island…” he paused to take another breath in continuation.


“sooooo.. if the idea is ok with you when you spend your time here helping me, im perfectly fine having a child around the lair as long stay out lab areas, and safer then my castle so no traps.. Caused too many minion injuries, so if need bring your Zaran with you it's fine by me and i can set up a bedroom next yours so have him a room.” he put the idea out.


Steph just listened and stared in at him with contplanting expression.


Dr Cortex folded his arm, he took a quick glance over to her being silent, he swallowed a hard lump in his throat. She kept looking at him without an answer, but then he saw her bite her lip and start to cry!!, she was crying!.


Cortex felt a lump of lead in his stomach, he never saw her cry before and it disturbed him to see her like that. 


When he was about to lean over to say something “look look i mean it with most serenity, please don't be..” but she came to him, embraced him in a hug, he looked around him confused.


He heard her crying there into his neck, he slowly raised hand up to hold her shoulders as she did. He was now comforting her.. So strange to comfort someone back.

“I cant.. I don't have words to say how much that means to me doc!.” She was delighted to hear of the idea she could bring her Zaran here once things settle in for her made thing safe here, she didn't need to worry about being away a lot from her kid. “But what about your home and the things you do.. And it would be dangerous to have my kid around..” 


“I can assure you, my new lair is lot safer then my old one, it's more like a family mansion and plenty space for your son want bring him..if things do get out of hand bad, then you know you have support make sure his safe, i am aware he is dear to you and young so best he stays close to you” he tried best reassure her he make the time for lair be on good conditions when she brings her kid here..be sure notify staff and coworkers of the new addition.


“I may be an evil scientist but I'm not a monster." He turned his head away and hope she did not see the look on his face. It was pouty and shy together, showing kindness was hard for him but she was becoming important to him and best of all she stays happy while working here too.


Steph looked up at the doc for a few moments, she wiped away the tears on her cheek, he was so complex saying his evil but he showed a softer side to him he showed to her. Even for her son, she was left in awe at the doc there.


Dr Cortex looked back at her as she was still holding onto him, soon seeing her face staring so in appreciation for him, it made him melt his heart and see her happy again. His face softens, is this what love is going to do to him. He was sure his reputation as an evil scientist would fly out the window fast.


Steph's gaze softened, she brought hand up and caressed his cheek. “You're willing to do this for me and my son.”

Cortex looked up at the ceiling, looked back at her and he shook his head. “Pretty thick steel between rooms and engine is loud echoing above… so no he can't hear anything, need speaker command button to talk between the rooms. “ he explained in detail.

He went up to the wall and pressed a button. “ yes Ngin i heard the first time!” he let go of the button, he turned around to see steph come out of the bathroom yet but not out.. He went pressed button “Ngin be sure landing is clean and elevator platform to be up, i don't feel like walking down stairs..” he let go button


“Right master.” n.gin said come back to answer the doctor.


Cortex sighs he walks back over to get rest his clothing, he checked himself over and relatched his lab coat, he found his gloves under the table, he had reach under and bumped his head way out with a grunt and found his pants close by window, must have tossed it way further then he thought he slipped on his pants, he getting on his boots when door of bathroom opened, he turned his head see steph return out in new outfit.


Steph with quick clean up and new clothes on, she is wearing a one sided black shirt and royal purple A-line skirt on and simple slip on shoes.


Dr Cortex stood up, his shoes slipped back on he straightened himself up, “ my my dear you looking ravishing in that outfit..” smiling ear to ear looking up and down at her.

Cortex looked back at her with an amused look, he knew that would be a promise to steal from ripto.

Dr Cortex noted that “ there are plenty in my lair I assure you.” he pleaded hand on the small of her back guide again to the stairs, allowing her to go up first, he watched her from step up the stairs with a smile plastered on his lips.


As they come to the top helm deck, N.gin already left to get things down by the bay doors.


Dr Cortex stood there rolling his heels with a sparkle in his eyes. “Right this way my dear. “ he pursued her on down to bay doors, he made sure she follow next him to where needed to go, to bay doors open and hover platform awaited and Ngin there with control.


“ My dear.” Dr Cortex smiled in a sing-song manner as he placed his hand out for her to help her up the platform.


“Such a gentleman.” responding to his manner with a smile on her lips she used his hand to get up even though it was really not needed.


Dr Cortex only smiled in glee so much when her hand touched his gloved ones, tender lil touches were enthralling he stepped one next to her and n.gin,.


N.Gin watched the two, it seemed Dr. Cortex was in a happy and very pleasant mood but seeing how he acted so nice around this lady guest was the strangest thing he had seen all day. Was there something more going on?.


Dr Cortex looked over to N.gin, he waved a hand to get moving, N.gin used the controls in his hand for the hover platform, it moved up and floated out the baydoor of the airship.


Steph leaned over to grab the doctor's arm when it moved.. She knew something was going to happen but still got startled by it, she heard Dr Cortex next to her chuckle, she gave him a squint look and he was amused by her stunned look. “ yeah im not getting used to this.”

Ngin was mostly one who built most of the tech around even Dr cortex Invented the idea behind them, where was his credit.


Steph looked over to N.gin and she picked up on his loud thoughts “ It's Marvelous work and Impressed by it Dr. Cortex and you too Dr. Ngin .” She looked directly towards both N.gin and Dr. cortex.


N.gin looked up to hear her compliment, blushing his cheek. It was nice to have acknowledgement but he didn't say anything. “ um.. Thank you.”  he looked up at the cortex who was squinting down at him.


Cortex looked back at her and then back n.gin, bit of a huff from his lips, the attention he wanted seemed to get redirected.


N,gin directed the platform down to open roof top doors that went inside of the lair back entrance area of a lab bay.


With low hum as the platform landed inside, with Dr Cortex hoping off first he again gave hand for her to step down, she smiled rolled her eyes at him he was going keep doing this for her but she liked it.


She did come off the platform taking his hand in hers. “ Let me be humble and warmly welcome to the Cortex mansion, it may not be like a chateau or a palace but I generally think I put in a better design to my lair compared to riptos. “ he wanted to boast about it.


When she was off from the platform, Dr.Ngin ordered nearby androids to come with him to help clean up the airship, use control and hover platform to go back up to the airship.


Steph looked back watching the platform go up above to the airship, she turned to look back at the doctor who was waiting for her at the doorway.


Dr Cortex proudly smiled as he was going to give the best tour of his home. “Right this way my dear, let me show you my humble abode we are sharing.” A smile beamed his face, his mustache curled so face upwards.He Finally after waiting so long. Have her here now to brighten up the placer with her presence, doctor made sure all was prepped and ready for living here.. Tho might be more he needed to do more to make it comfortable with extras might come along with her.. But I was sure she would stay comfortable and be with him, as long as he had her.


Steph chuckled, his manner made her smile, she followed the doc out the room into the hallway of his lair.
