Lyrics and chords
Capo at 3rd fret, key of Bb
G, C, X6 D, C, G X3
In and old chair, I sit here waiting for you
The same affair, but with a different view
And the ladies their dancing without their bouquets
The gentleman bow to them marrily
And the old clock on the wall keeps ticking the hours away
This old heart knows neither pleasure nor pain
I'm cold as ice and numb as novocaine
It's been many years I've been waiting for you
You're giving me answers I already knew
And the old clock on the wall keeps ticking the days away
(Tin whistle solo)
It's the same old story, its been told a thousand times
A man let down no matter how high he climbs
I get up to leave in a shade of grey
A victim of roles in this cruel ballet
And the old clock on the wall keeps ticking the years away
Instrumentation and recording

I had originally wanted to use mandolin here for this recording but I think the banjo works. The Mandolin is currently in my shop getting some work done. I am replacing some of the hardware and fixing a couple of cracks.
