This is the panneaux for my series on the Dark Crystal art nouveau inspired pieces...
Featuring SkekEkt, the skeksis court ornamentalist, probably the most flamboyant out of them all. Though they are all referred at as "he" in the Dark Crystal, the skeksis are in fact hermaphroditical creatures, both male and female.SkekEkt was certainly the most feminine of them. He was known for both his vanity, and his love of making beautiful things. All the skeksis' robes and jewels were designed and partially made by him (Though I assume the boring hard part of the sewing was made by podling slaves) and the ornaments and crafts for the court and castle were also of his making. Busy fellow.

"And this is the panneaux which made me suffer the most"... :faint:

No, really.
The work and ammount of detail this skeksis' garments took to be made was painstaking!!!...I found myself asking his image over and over "You really needed to throw your WHOLE wardrobe over you...didn't you? DIDN'T YOU?"...
And it's WONDERFUL garments...I, least than anybody, wouldn't want to take any detail out of it. So I drew it all. Inch by inch...lace edging by lace edging, and brocade by brocade.
Whew!
Now it's done, I love it!...But I won't forget "how one must suffer for fashion!" XD
If anybody convinced me that one had to suffer for art, then SkekEkt here did!

The drawing was sketched in pencil, and inked with a quill and black chinese ink.
It took about six hours, I think, to get it completed. As always, between 2 AM and 5 Am...in three rows. A little bit by day, and in few time it was done!...It is curious how funny it was to do this, and at the same time how hard!...
I hope you enjoy it!
The ornamentalist sure enjoyed to get portrayed on his own art nouveau frame!

DISCLAIMER: I do NOT OWN any of these skeksis. Their race, likenesess and particular personalities and demeanor were created by, and are property of Jim Henson,Brian Froud, Frank Oz and the many people who worked in the making of The Dark Crystal (1982)*
