Just have the lava have a gap of 1 block from the drop for the water. Like this: (Lava is L Empty space is E Hole is H Water is W) L E H W The lava travels a single block which makes the cobblestone, while the water goes directly into the hole instead of traveling
This is why you test the water flow and place the lava one block away from the water after confirming the location. From the looks of it, this world was only minutes old by the time this happened. xD
