Artist's notes:
Vic the Little Fox

Here's Vic (or Vuk, as the Hungarians called him) from "The Little Fox," one of my top favorite Non-Disney movies.

Some of you folks might compare this movie (or at least the original Hungarian dub and the uncensored version of the English dub) to Disney's "Bambi."
Except:
*It's a life story of a fox, instead of a deer
*Bambi had a lot less dead relatives than Vic has
*Bambi never got his revenge on the hunter that shot his mother

What I like about Vic's character is that even though he represents the personality of a growing young man, he still has the same instincts of a real fox.

Plus his younger self (which is what I draw in the picture) is voiced by Nancy Cartwright.

Vic/Vuc belongs to Pannónia Filmstúdió and István Fekete
Drawing, color, and ink by me.

I recently acquired a second-hand VHS copy of this movie (the uncensored English dub). After giving it a watch, I can definitely see why it's considered such a classic of Hungarian animation. It is very reminiscent of Bambi as the description of this image states, but from a predator's point of view. I especially like how none of the characters are completely good or completely evil. Vic is a really sweet and likable fox, but the film doesn't shy away from the fact he needs to kill other creatures to feed himself. On the other hand, the hunter is very antagonistic to Vic, but only because he keeps eating his animals and is trying to put a stop to it. I highly recommend the movie if you're a fox lover. As a side note, it's actually Corinne Orr that voices Vic's younger self in the English dub, not Nancy Cartwright.

One of the best animation of Attila Dargay.
