[b][u]MY PLACE s01:e18 - From 'Unknown Sender'[/u][/b]

The beeping belonged to a bright red letter box placed next to the front door.

Beside it stood a pelican. He wore a green hat and suit, carrying a satchel full of letters.

“Ahhh! Hello there, mayor!” he greeted me with way too much energy for 8am in the morning. “I’ve got a delivery for you! I already put it
in your mailbox, so be sure to check it later.”

A delivery for me?
I’ve only just moved here… I’ve only just got a mail box!

“Oh, um, by the way…” the pelican resumed “Make sure to collect you mail regularly, I can’t cram anymore in there if it’s full, okay?” Seemed like an obvious thing to point out, but if there’s anything I’ve learned by dealing with the general public, it’s that they’re stupid and need telling basic things, so I understand why he opted to explain this to me. “Well, I’ve gotta get moving!” he said, half saluting half waving “I’ll see you later!”

As he walked off, I opened the mail box, the beeping blue sign on it deactivated as I did so. Inside was a single letter, encased in a pinkish
envelope. I tore it open, finding a cloud-patterned piece of paper inside.

It read:

mayorhood! To be honest, I
was supposed to become the
mayor, but one thing led to
another… and now it’s all up
to you! I’m rooting for you!

-Keep it a secret!”[/i]

I couldn’t believe what I was reading.

The guy who was supposed to become mayor of this Place thought it best to just leave me in charge instead of getting his job back!? Are you kidding me!? And who was it anyway? How do they know who I am or where I live? Despite the friendly demeanour of the letter, I couldn’t help but feel somewhat paranoid. My being here was already a mystery that needed solving, now this?

I think it really would be best to keep this letter a secret.
Maybe I could tell Isabelle about this… no, I doubt that girl needs anymore stress. Speaking of which, I best head that way now. I enclosed the letter back into its envelope and threw it inside my house. Once I get a filing cabinet, I’ll sort this under: “Creepy”.

I am so, so, so sorry to anyone who likes Pete because I absolutely butchered drawing him.
His pelican beak is so weird to draw from the angle I wanted.

After a lazy and ego-driven guy finds himself in a wild world populated with talking animals, he is inexplicably made the mayor of a quiet little town and given the unthinkable burden of responsibility.
