Does the physical arm start to necrotize if it's without a soul in it for too long?

It's connected to the body still, so has adequate circulation to keep it alive. The soul not being in it just renders it inoperable.

So what am I missing about the bag of holding being on her left shoulder? Is it just where she's keeping it or is it tied to her arm in some way? I have two decades' worth of D&D experience, so I've seen my fair share of creative improv and contraptions, but if there's something like that going on here, I'm stumped as to what it could be.

I would imagine its a better way to practice using her soul arm. Dont have to worry about your physical arm flopping around and the soul would just phase through the bag of holding
