Helps when it's time to be a friend - a combination of both that often takes the subtly, confidence, and understanding of the whole spectrum of 'friend'. Just like it is often helpful to have been both a top and a bottom; it helps you understand the challenges and benefits of each better, making you more flexible and understanding when doing whichever you wish or prefer. I definitely feel that Princess Cadance (in my own head canon) would be a huge fan of that. Maybe I'll do a sequential comic story based on that.
