The Shadowkin Wars, which occurred approximately 300 years ago, were a series of brutal conflicts between the Vulpis and the Shadowkin, a rival clan of anthropomorphic beings. The Shadowkin were a nomadic, forest-dwelling clan with darker fur patterns and a culture that Vulpis viewed as “degenerate” due to their perceived lack of clothing, acceptance of homosexuality, and rituals involving public displays of intimacy. Vulpis, devoted to Lunara, the Moon Goddess, saw the Shadowkin as threatening their purity, believing their “taint” could corrupt Lunara’s light. The Shadowkin are seen as “vessels of chaos,” particularly condemning their cubs as “seeds of darkness” who needed to be “cleansed” to prevent future corruption.
