Nathan was 4 when Realmfall happened.  And in the aftermath, the US took a sharply religious turn (Big surprise!) and having a mark to one of the Divine Realm gods is generally a social points deduction.  They can't trust you, and so on.  That's at best, and between that and the interspecies first marriage, Nathan spends most of his time on an EU Permanent Resisdent visa.  His parents still live in the USA though, so he has occasional trips back.  Seems he forgot the motorcycle gloves this time...
