That game is awesome, and I can easily recommend it to any fan of action JRPGs. And that's even if it didn't have those wonderful creatures in it! If anything, I wish there were a couple of games that focused more on them because that isn't OS's thing. Their design is so good...it's easy to even imagine some characters to be "Pookanized" as we did before with Oswald and Ingway.
