Yet another entry from me for the Pokémon Footdex project. One of my favorite redesigns to come out of Legends Arceus was Hisuian form Growlithe, looking like a poodle or sheepdog with hair that grew too long covering its eyes. So I decided to claim it. I haven't played Legends Arceus in a while, so I had to boot it up to refresh my memory what Spitfire Island looked like because I wanted that as the setting. There is an odd question about Growlithe's design I've wondered about though... why does it have two little claws on its front legs while having 3 toes on its hindlegs? Why the inconsistent number of digits? Was it easier to illustrate in pixel art back in the Red/Green era with simplified hand paws? Was it originally a mistake but then the designers decided they actually liked it? Or did Gamefreak think it wouldn't matter since Arcanine's hand paws are consistent and have 3 digits on them? Whatever the reason, anthro Growlithes will have trouble trying to hold anything with no opposable thumbs. They can't even hold a fire stone to evolve themselves into Arcanine to gain those extra fingers, and have to rely on someone else touching the stone to their bodies.

Someone else claimed original version Growlithe, so I won't be drawing Growlithe's original design. Next up on my to-do-list, Squirtle, Blastoise and Golbat. Dunno who I'll choose next after that. I would have loved to draw Machoke with its five toe feet, but someone else already claimed it.
