Not for nothing, but "evil for the sake of being evil" and/or "evil for petty reasons" describes almost every villain in the franchise.

But what we got was a very one dimensional villain who was only evil and power hungry just for the sake of being evil and power hungry. A caricature of a villain whose only purpose of existence was for the heroes to have an antagonist to stop. Oh and her motivation was that Celestia and Luna didn't let her play with them when they were fillies.
[@littleman001](/images/3585115#comment_11208308) Ehhh, I'm pretty sure we would have gotten more to her canon backstory had Hasbro allowed G.M. Berrow more creative freedom. The idea of Opaline being an alicorn from Skyros (the place where natural born alicorns are from) and being banished was really great. I guarantee that if MYM had been renewed and Hasbro actually let the writers cook, we could have gotten a really great story. It's been apparently confirmed that Opaline was going to return in a future MYM season, and it's absolutely insane that Hasbro robbed us of that.
What madness is this? You're actually giving Opaline depth and character?!
