Midnight Terror:

Midnight Terror, a name spoken only in hushed tones around campfires. A powerful pony from a time when the alicorns ruled the world. Originally she was a member of this ruling race of mighty alicorns, helping to guide ponykind. However, in her heart she craved power. She sowed seeds of distrust between the pony races, and between her fellow alicorns.
She took on the name of Midnight Terror.
Her actions led to the great alicorn war, and the breaking of the pony tribes more than 4000 years ago.

At the end of this conflict, the remaining alicorns sacrificed themselves to seal her in a spellstone prison, hoping to eternally lock her away from the outside world.

Many thousands of years later, Midnight Terror would be released by the mad unicorn mage Solar Flare. Seeking to bend the alicorn to her will, the unicorn foolishly thought she could control her. However, Midnight simply laughed, thanking the unicorn for aiding in her escape before vanishing into the unknown to rebuild her power, and to build her armies.
