Rainbow Dash is working as a lifeguard down by the lake. A young girl tries to convince her friend, Sammy, to join the other children in the water but he is convinced there are monsters out there. The girl tells him that the Sailor Rangers protect Los Angeles from monsters. Tom and Sylvester overhear this and have an idea. Rainbow Dash also tries to convince Sammy there are no monsters in the lake but fails.
Sailor Nebula has been monitoring the conversation and tells Sailor Tin Nyanko she will send an army of sea monsters down to Los Angeles since the Sailor Rangers won’t be able to defeat them all at once. Fluttershy and Pinkie join Rainbow Dash by the lake; The rest of the mares have gone scuba diving. A pair of shark fins appear in the water. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash head out on a jet ski and find the cats wearing helmets with shark fins on them. They warn them they’re lucky the Sailor Rangers didn’t catch them.
Sailor Tin Nyanko reports to Nebula that three of the sailor scouts are still underwater. Nebula notes they won’t be able to hear the alert and she can take care of the other three first. She starts off by sending the first known monster down to Los Angeles, where he quickly heads down for the lake. Princess Serenity and Luna observe them: Since they can’t get through to Twilight Sparkle, they contact Rainbow Dash instead. The three mares leave Sammy with another lifeguard and transform to fight the first monster on the other side of the lake. Nebula adds two more fish monsters to the battle, following them with another fish monster.
Rainbow Dash requests help and Serenity and Luna send out a wide transmission. The other three mares have just left the water and receive the message, transforming to go and fight the monsters with the other sailor scouts. The sailor animates observe this so Nebula decides to create a new monster. She chooses a rubber floatie ring that Tom and Sylvester are using as the basis for his monster named Floaty, leaving the pair stranded in the middle of a lake. Floaty instantly grows to giant size and Serenity and Luna alert Twilight Sparkle, who sends the other sailor scouts to deal with it in the Thunderzords. They form the Thunder Megazord and quickly despatch Floaty with the Thunder Saber. Twilight Sparkle takes out the rest of the fish monsters with Saba. Nebula declares she is done with fish and Sailor Tin Nyanko nervously reveals she has ordered fish sticks for lunch.
The rubber floatie ring reappears on the edge of the lake but Sylvester has got a cramp and he and Tom get into trouble. Sammy fails to attract the attention of the lifegaurd, who is tending to a female beachgoer’s arm, so he swims out to them with the rubber floatie ring. The lifeguard joins him and they get the cats back to shore. The three mares return in time to congratulate Sammy for facing his fears and forgetting about the monsters that appear in the lake.
