Historically, I would have trouble with the layer setup for compositions like this, where a character is simultaneously behind and above the border frame.
However, I found a relatively simple way to do it with "clone" layers, that only requires a single paint layer and that simplifies my life greatly.
I'm not sure if it's worth explaining in detail. I'd need to show a picture. It would be more of a krita tutorial at that point.
