Jewel the Beetle, was the owner of the place and had made it a comfortable home to several shelves full of valuable minerals and gems, as well as mobius's historical exhibits of the past for the public to see. What made these exhibits so special was that they featured evidence and artifacts from the respected mobian cultures. Jewel often received compliments from her various guests about going out of her way to actually find these artifacts herself to display them to the public so they could learn about what the Mobians of the past lived like. But Jewel was quick to tell her guests that the real credit should go to her assistants, especially Dominic the Hedgekoala. For 5 years now. Sonic and Tails's friend, Dominic had been helping around at the Mineral Museum. From guiding guests whenever jewel had a day off to studying the artifacts. But he also used his recent interest in archaeology to journey across Mobius and learn of the ancient history of different Mobian cultures as his buddy Tails encouraged him. Dominic would also bring back stuff form museum to display, whether it be fossils to guns and weapons, and so on and so fourth and it always had an interesting story behind it too. Even bringing back stuff regarding his Neo-Mobian history.\n\nJewel was impressed with how thorough the blue hedgehog and twin-tailed fox's friend was with and knew that she and others could count on him to bring back something new for her to display in her museum. She was determined to make her Museum the perfect place for all of Mobius to learn about their vast history, dating all the way back to the prehistoric ages, and she had a very big task for Dominic to do this time around. Jewel wanted to open a history gallery no one has seen before for ages. The Ancient Mobian Pharaoh of Sandopolis; Queen Enigma. The exhibit about the Pharaoh lineage and history already exists in the museum but there was still a lot of history that was left unknown. As they had yet to feature one of the very first Mobian Pharaohs who ruled over ancient Sandopolis over 5000 years ago.\n\n''Hey, Dominic.'' Jewel said as she greeted Dominic. ''Hey, Jewel. Still interested about the history of Queen Enigma I see?.'' The green, muscular hedgekoala hybrid smirked. \"Yeah, I still am. I'm excited about what you'll bring back, I know people will be thrilled to see it.'' Jewel said. ''You and me, Both. I’m always ready for an adventure to help you build the full history of Mobius right here in your museum.'' Dominic chuckled. \"follow me.'' Jewel instructed, Dominic walked up to the computer as Jewel sat down on the chair in front of it. The Mobian beetle then proceeded to turn her computer towards him showing him the page she had been looking at before his arrival. ''Today, I need you to take one more trip to Sandopolis” Jewel explained. “There’s one last piece of history over there we’ve yet to document, because there's so little info about it. And you know me, I’m not one to leave important parts of history out of the story.”\n\nDominic looked at the webpage that Jewel was showing him, seeing that there was not a lot of information on the page. But the name that titled the page gave him all the information he needed to know. “Huh, Queen Enigma? One of the first Pharaohs of Sandopolis?” Dominic questioned. \"This seems quite the task for me.'' Dominic added. “Yes, it is” Jewel confirmed “As well as one of the only rulers of Sandopolis who anyone has yet to document an accurate history for. I’m determined to change that. And I know that if there’s anyone out there who can dig deep and learn what kind of legacy she left behind, it’s you.” She added. ''I'm flattered, Jewel. You know me quite well here, now you know how Sonic and Tails feel. '' Dominic said as Jewel had this much faith in him. Truth be told, he had check out and solved plenty of uncovered and incredible history that many thought was unsolvable before.“ So you’ll do it?” asked Jewel. ''Well yeah. Besides, I contacted Sonic and Tails to help assist me with it along the way.'' Dominic said. “Excellent!” Jewel exclaimed, clapping her hands together “You know the drill. Head on over to Sandopolis and learn as much as you can about Queen Enigma. And if you can bring back an artifact that was significant to her history, I’ll pay you extra.” She added. \"No problemo.'' Dominic said with a smugly smirk before giving Jewel a handshake. “Good luck out there!” Jewel said.\n\nAfter bidding Jewel goodbye. Dominic exited her office and zipped out of the museum. The super fast hedgekoala zipping through the city of mobotropolis. ''Sandopolis, here I come.'' Dominic said to himself as runs through the wind.\n\nA couple hours later....\n\n \n\nDominic had finally arrived at Sandopolis, which was practically on the other side of Mobius. Dominic can already feel a sweat growing from the heat of the desert and he had only just arrived.he exclaimed “I forgot how hot this place was. Heh, if it means showing off my body with glistening detail then I'll take it. ''Dominic said as he noticed beads of sweat drip down all over his buffed body, from his pecs and his abs to his arms. ''Well, I can’t stand around all day. I’ve got a task to do here.” Dominic then walked around town and was greeted with the site of many locals going about their day. He then haptic tapped his wrist ring to show the information on Sandopolis in recent years He vaguely knew that several years ago, the area was governed under a monarchy under total authority. But Dominic knew he couldn’t get distracted by the impressive transformation that Sandopolis had taken over the years. He had been sent here to uncover the history of Queen Enigma. Unfortunately, Dominic had no such luck finding any really useful information. Everyone he asked told him that they knew nothing about Enigma. Of course, Dominic wasn’t expecting anyone who served under Enigma at the time to still be alive, she had been gone for over 5000 years now, and for sure anyone who was under her rule at the time was also long gone. \"Man, it seems I have yet to find any info on Queen Engima, even my ring can't seem to get any info on it which in all honesty, that's surprising to say the least. I would also expected Sonic and Tails to meet up with me here but I just can't seem to find them.'' Dominic said. \"Not to mention, I don’t feel like most of these people are being entirely truthful with me either. I feel like they do know something about Enigma, but they’re just too frightened to tell me. Do they know a secret or something?.”\n\n\"I just need to keep asking till i find answers.'' Dominic said as he continued to walk through out the city. \"There's clearly something missing here and I don't know what it is.'' Dominic said. But before he could anything next, he felt an arm grab his shoulder, stopping him in his tracks. \"What the hell!?'' Dominic exclamed. Turning around to meet the figure who had grabbed him. When he faced the culprit, he found himself staring at a couple of black and white furred, female mobian jackals. The jackals wore brown thobes that covered most of their bodies and light brown djellabas that covered most of their faces with only their eyes being seen. “Are you the one who’s been asking everyone around town about Queen Enigma?” asked the female jackal on the left. \"Yes....yes I am. And I was wondering if you two knew about her?.'' Dominic asked. “The people around here aren’t going to be of help to you” explained the jackal on the right. “They all tremble in fear at the mention of Queen Enigma.” She added. \"Yeah, no kidding. But I wonder why, tho? did she do something so terrible that makes these people forget about he existence. Dominic added as she crossed his arms. “Well, yes. But It goes far beyond that” said the jackal on the right. “Queen Enigma was a ruthless tyrant, who became infamous along our long lineup of Pharaoh’s as one of, if not, the most evil oppressor in not just Sandopolis, but all of Mobius. She captured her subjects and forced them into slavery, made them all work non-stop, and forced those who didn’t comply to be her personal servants.” She added. \"It was also heavily rumored that Queen Enigma had some kind of unspoken power” replied the female jackal on the left. “And I don’t mean diplomatic power… I mean real power, of the supernatural kind. The female jackal on the left added.\n\n \n\n\"Okay...wow. That's one way to make these people fear her.'' Dominic said. \"Just thinking about it just sends chills down my spine.'' He added. \"Was she was like a sorceress?\" questioned Dominic, wanting to know more about it. ''You could say that, yes” said the jackal on the right. “Though this rumored power wasn’t something she flaunted all the time, and only a select few, namely those who were forced to be her personal servants, actually saw her use these powers of hers. So it’s highly likely that her supernatural power was all made up, though there is no way to disprove the theory. As we stated before, the supernatural power she supposedly had was purely a rumor” explained the female jackal. “And her short rule came from her subjects finally standing up to her tyrannical ways. So they all banded together to trap her in one of the pyramids she had forced them to build, effectively turning it into her tomb, sealing her away for the rest of her life. But even with Queen Enigma gone, more rumors spread across Sandopolis” continued the jackal lady. “Rumors that she would one day emerge from her tomb, seeking revenge on not just Sandopolis, but on the entire world of Mobius. She warned her captors that she would one day return to reclaim her rightful rule over the land, and thus, despite being gone for 5 millennia, our people still live in fear that she will return one day.” She added. \"Hmmmm.....Interesting I think know why now...Do you know anymore about Queen Enigma?'' Dominic asked the female jackal duo as he knew one thing was certain for sure, it definitely made for a good story, one that Dominic was really positive that Jewel would appreciate having in her museum. Though Dominic knew that there must be more to Queen Enigma than these pair of jackals was telling him, and he was determined to dig deeper to try and uncover every little mystery that he could.\n\n \n\n\"Unfortunately, that is where our knowledge of the first Pharaoh ends.” Said the female jackal on the left. \"Damn it.'' Dominic murmured under his breath. ''However, we can guide you to the location if your interested about it as there one more thing we can share tom you.'' She added which made Dominic raised an eyebrow. But we strongly advise that you take this information with extreme caution, as you are not the first person who desired to learn everything about Queen Enigma.” Said the female jackal on the right. \"Everything, you say?'' Dominic questioned. “I know what you’re thinking” She murmured. “You wish to find the pyramid she was sealed away in, in the hopes that you’ll find all the answers to her history there, You're also trying to meet up with the blue hedgehog and yellow fox friends of yours.”\n\n \n\n\"Yes, it's a task for me for personal reasons.'' Dominic answered, now feeling very suspicious by the fact these two mysterious mobian jackal ladies seemed to know what he was thinking right now and how did they knew the Hedgehog and Fox Duo was there. “Well, if you’re truly eager to learn all that there is to know about Queen Enigma, we can guide you there if you like?” Said the Jackal on the left. 'Though we must warn you. Her resting ground is full of deadly traps that were set by the locals in order to prevent outsiders from entering the very womb that holds the sarcophagus where she rests, mainly out of fear that they will accidentally set her free.” She added. ''If it's a risk I'm willing to take, I'll do it.'' Dominic said. He knew he didn’t like disrespecting the cultures of other mobian people, but he couldn’t help but roll his eyes at that comment. He got that the people were scared that Enigma would return, but surely if she really was destined to return, it would have happened by now. It had been 5000 years, and no body could survive living for that long without decomposing. Though it also was giving him second thoughts about entering the pyramid if he was at risk of getting seriously hurt, or even killed at the hands of any booby traps. But at the same time, this wasn’t his first time risking his life in the name of history. But he had a task at hand that he needed to accomplish. The Hedgekoala had went through worse so this isn't new to him in anyway.\n\n \n\n\"You're quite the brave one.'' Commented the Jackal on the right. “Then it is decided. Come, we shall leave immediately.” She added. The duo walked past Dominic and began making their way towards the edge of the city, where nothing upon layers of sand a several pyramids awaited. Dominic watched for a moment before quickly following behind the jackals. Both of them glanced over their shoulders to make sure that Dominic was still following behind them. The hedgekoala couldn’t see it due to most of his face being covered by their djellabas, but the jackal duo's mouths had curled into sinister smirks. The curious hedgekoala had fallen right into their trap, and soon enough, their plans he had been scheming for several years would finally come into fruition. ‘Soon’ they thought in the safety of their minds, clenching their hidden hands into a determined fists ‘You shall claim your rightful place once more, our Queen.’ One of them added.\n\nAs the hours slipped by during their walk to Queen Enigma’s tomb, the hedgekoala and the jackals made their way out of Sandopolis City, stepping into the vast embrace of the desert’s hills. The sun blazed fiercely overhead, turning their journey into a hot, sweaty trial, each ray kissing their fur with a burning touch. A gust of wind whipped through the arid expanse, hurling blistering grains of sand against their ankles, while the horizon stretched endlessly before them. Apart from the city that was now several miles behind them and the tall, imposing pyramids that stood sentinel in the distance. “So…this seems to be the place.'' Dominic said. \"Yes...Now follow us.'' One of the female jackals said as they headed to the pyramid spanning over a 100 feet tall. The trio then entered the pyramid. “You can still change your mind and back out if you desire?” Said the second jackal. \"Nah, I’ve come too far to back out now. Even after walking in the heat, I would rather not go through that again.” “So be it.” Said the first female jackal.\n\nWith the knowledge that this place was heavily booby trapped, Dominic stepped inside with caution, slowly walking into the dark, gloomy passageway. He instantly felt relieved as the inside of the pyramid was already much cooler than the hot, blistering desert outside. Though it was certainly far more eerie and threatening, with there not being a single shred of light to illuminate the way. ''Holy shit.'' Dominic muttered. ''I knew I should have bring a torch with me.'' He added. “Do not fret, our friend” Said one of the Jackals, as a sudden ray of light shone from directly behind Dominic, making the hedgekoala turn around to see the first black furred jackal holding a torch in her uncovered hand “I came prepared. Now watch your step, the traps in this place can be activated by stepping on the wrong brick.” ''Yeah, like I'm not gonna be careless and walk into the wrong ones.'' Dominic said in a cocky manner. One of the jackals then step onto a cracked brick into the ground and a barrage of arrows suddenly shot out of the wall on the left, slamming into the wall on the right before clattering to the floor, one of them barely hit Dominic's leg. \"Woah!'' Dominic exclaimed. “And just a heads up” The female jackal continued. “That was the tamest trap of the bunch. As we continue our journey, they will only become more dangerous.” She added.\n\n\"Noted” Dominic replied before he try to sped off but tripped. \"Fuck.... this is just great, this place somehow limits my abilities.'' Dominic was still a little shocked at how close they got his leg grazed by the arrow but also now ticked off that he can't even run fast. Time went by as the duo travelled through the pyramid’s dark hallway, the two Jackals leading the field and the green neo-mobian speedster himself trailing behind. The three of them had a few more close calls with the traps that followed. How do you know this place so well anyway, if I was wondering?” asked Dominic, sticking as close to the females as he could, figuring that would be the best way to make sure he didn’t trigger any more traps.\n\n“Because the people of Sandopolis fear that Queen Enigma may one day return, they’ve tasked me with scouting this place and keeping an eye open for any signs that might signal her return” explained the first jackal. \"We and a few others frequently visit this pyramid to explore every last area within to make sure everything is as I’ve left it. If I do see any signs that indicate the Queen’s restoration, I must warn the rest of the city so we can prepare.” “Do you two really believe that she’ll return one day?” Dominic questioned, still skeptical about her returning despite being away for over 5000 years. “Yes” replied the second jackal. “We believe she will. When? we do not know. But me and her sincerely believe that she did indeed have some kind of mystical power that made her so feared.” She added.\n\n''Pfft. Oh please.'' Dominic said. rolling his eyes “If Enigma really did have some kind of magical abilities. Don’t you think she would have used them to escape a long time ago? Or used them to stop those who trapped her in here? If you ask me, she was just making some empty threats and everyone just ate them up, like come on now.” he added. “Perhaps” one of them responded. ''I think I see light on the other side of the tunnel!” Dominic said as the jackal duo looked to where he pointed at. The three of them had finally reached the other end of the seemingly endless corridor, as a flickering light could finally be seen on the other side. ''That’s the entrance to the tomb area.” Said both jackals, who suddenly sped up their walking “We are almost there.'' Both added. ”Woah! wait up, you two!” Dominic exclaimed, quickly speeding up his own tempo to keep up with them. The three of them powerwalked the rest of the way until they exited the corridor. They now found themselves in a small room, dimly illuminated by several torches alit with fire neatly placed among the walls. In front of them was what appeared from a distance to be a dead end, but upon closer inspection, it was a door. And painted on the door was a picture of a pitch black jackal Mobian standing tall and proud. The jackal was depicted with bright green eyes, a black and golden nemes headdress, a golden necklace with a cyan gem in the middle, a pair of golden bracelets and anklets, black and gold body armor and held a golden Egyptian-styled staff in one hand.\n\n\"Heh, I guess this is the pharaoh herself.'' Dominic said. “Yes” the first Jackal answered before Dominic even had a chance to finish his question. “The first pharaoh, Queen Enigma herself.” She added. “Before us is the doorway to her tomb” the second jackal explained. “Behind it is a staircase that leads deep underground to a dungeon where all her possessions were laid to rest with her, as well her body, resting in the sarcophagus that her captors forced her in.” She added. “Sooooo, is there a way to get in or what.'' Dominic asked. “There is a switch somewhere in this room that will make the door open” said the first Jackal. “We need your help to search for it. Pat the walls and push against every brick you can find.” “Now hold up.” said Dominic, raising an eyebrow at the two. “Don’t you know where it is? You said that you two visit here frequently to make sure everything is as it should be, something don't seem right to me.” Dominic said bluntly. “We don’t visit here THAT often” replied the second jackal. “We have our own lives to live outside of this place you know.” She added.\n\n''Okay, Fine. Geez, man.'' Dominic said, raising his hands to try and diffuse the situation, not wanting to accidentally start something between the three of them. But he won't lie, they were really start to push his buttons. “I’ll get looking.” He added. “You check the left side, We’ll check the right” One of them ordered him, walking towards the right side of the wall, proceeding to feel up against every brick. Dominic did the same on his side of the room, pressing his hands firmly against the cold stone. The three of them continued feeling up the wall for a good 5 minutes, and so far they’d come up with nothing. Fatigue was starting to set in for Dominic as he swore he had felt nearly every brick on his side of the wall, and nothing had happened yet. Dominic was starting to get impatient.\n\n“Are you sure that there’s a switch in here?” Dominic spoke up “Because I can almost guarantee you that I’ve felt every little inch of this wall and that door hasn’t moved an inch.'' He added. “Keep trying!” One of them replied, his tone sounding suspiciously snappy “It’s in here somewhere. We need to test every last brick in this room until we find the right one.”\n\n“I fucking swear.” Dominic growled under his breath getting really pissed off, side-stepping to the right to continue feeling up the wall.“If this entire thing was just some bullshit ass story you two made up, I’m seriously going to-”\n\nCLICK!\n\nDominic was cut off when he felt his foot suddenly dip down against the brick he had stepped on. His eyes widened and his green fur bristled as he looked down and lifted his foot up. concern starting began to set in as he realized he had stepped on another cracked brick, a.k.a; another pressure plate. “Did you step on another pressure plate!?” One of the female jackals shouted. \"Uh duh, you dumb bitch!'' Dominic growled, clearly over with their nonsense. What do you think it wa-AAAAAA!!''\n\nThe wall that Dominic was pressing against suddenly gave away, flipping back until it was a slant. Since Dominic was leaning against it before it flipped, the hedgekoala hybrid now had nothing to lean against, and toppled forward, landing on his stomach and sliding down the slant into the dark entrance. “YOU FOOL!” the first jackal called out to him, rushing towards the opening to jump in after Dominic, only for it to close up again before she could follow him. She pounded her fist against the wall, trying to get it to open up again. But when it wouldn’t budge, she let out a growl in frustration.\n\n“Arrrrggghhh!” she snarled, punching the brick angrily. “That thrown our entire plan off course! Now what are we supposed to do!” The female added. ''You do realize that WAS part of the plan all along.'' The second jackal said as she walked up to her making the first female quickly realized and then smirked at her.\n\nMeanwhile, Dominic was screaming as he slid down the slant. It was like the world's most painful side, as it constantly twisted and turned in many different directions, causing the hedgekoala to smack his head against every corner he ran into as he continued to slide down. The hedgekoala felt like he was tumbling forever before the slant took a sudden steep drop, making him fall directly downwards.\n\n''AHHHHHHH!!!'' Dominic cried as he fell, eventually falling through a hole that led to a large room as he bounced around a few times before coming to a stop. He looked down and saw himself heading for a large patch of orange sand. \"THIS IS GONNA HURT!!!!'' Dominic growled loudly, before he landed face first on the sand. Dominic groaned out in pain as his face buried itself into it from the impact. It was far from a comfortable landing, but on the plus side, it had softened the impact from the fall, meaning that he was really sore, but still alive. 'ARRRRGGHHH....FFFF-FUCK!'' Dominic screamed out in pain. Pulling his face out of the sand and spitting out several grains that had landed in his mouth “Why did I ever agreed to come to this fucking place? and hearing more about Enigma’s story when this is gonna cause problems if Sonic and Tails weren't with me.” Dominic growled as he was now pissed off about this whole situation. Dominic slowly got back onto his feet, though gingerly as his entire body ached from the fall. He brushed his hands through his hair to get the remaining sand particles out of his fur, and stretched out his limbs to try and ease the soreness away. It was then the sudden realization that he was all alone in an unknown room hit him like a sack of bricks. “Where the fuck am I anyways!?” The really pissed off Hedgekoala said. Looking around to check his surroundings.\n\nDominic could see that he had landed in a large room. Like the one he was in before with jackal girls, there were torches alit with fire that dimly illuminated the area. It wasn’t the best source of light, as it was still rather hard to see, but it was better than nothing at all. But unlike the last room he was in, it was not only much larger, but there was also a large sheet of sand covering the floor, and several trinkets laying around, either placed neatly against the walls or embedded into the sand. These trinkets included the likes of vases with Egyptian patterns, small bricks of gold, or statues of a very familiar looking jackal. It was then the Neo-Mobian realized where he was .“This must be Enigma’s tomb!” he exclaimed in surprise, but still really irritated. There was no doubt about it. This was definitely Enigma’s tomb, with all the artifacts in here resembling her in some way, with the statues being an enormous giveaway. Dominic’s eyes filled with wonder as he thought about all the mysteries that were about to be unveiled to him. \"Huh, That pressure plate I stepped on must have been a secret shortcut to her tomb. I hope I didn’t accidentally put those two in danger.'' Dominic said. He did felt bad for the two jackals despite they were really pushing his buttons, he didn't even get to know what their names were, he also did found them quite cute he will admit. But for now, he was on his own.\n\n“Well, since I’m here, I might as well do what I came here to do in the first place.” Dominic said to himself as he walked across the sandy floor, using the torch he removed from the wall to get a better look around. As he trudged through the ruins of the tomb, he closely inspected every vase and statue he came across. Each vase had painted hieroglyphic pictures, not unlike the one that was on the door in the last room, of Enigma ruling over her subjects with an iron fist. And each statue was quite obviously hand-crafted, likely by the other bars of gold that laid around the room, each one made to perfection. The pictures were of Queen Enigma once again. But this time, they were giving more of a clear answer of what kind of ruler she was. And they lined up pretty well with how the girls described her, as most of these pictures depicted Enigma brandishing a whip, and using it to make her subjects of many different species do what she wanted. Some of these tasks included carrying heavy bricks bigger than their bodies to create the pyramids, or forcing them to give up their gold so that she could have it for herself. Though one particular image caught the hedgekoala's interest more than any other. And that was an image of Enigma standing tall and proud, with one hand raised up. Before her was another one of her slaves, bowing before her, this one looking like a jackal, just like Enigma. Above them was a symbol that seemed to be a bright green Egyptian-like eye. Dominic raised an eyebrow at that image, wondering what that could be about. “Huh, that’s an interesting picture” Dominic commented as he examined it “Maybe this was her way of marking those non-compliant subjects as her servants? ''Seems like an ancient mobian jackal civilization, or tribe or something?'' He added. His torch then illuminated something that he had not laid his eyes on yet, it was a tall golden sarcophagus. Dominic yelped and jumped back at the sight, as the green eyes on the face of the sarcophagus were glowing bright from the light of his torch, making them look like they were alive. \"Sweet fucking chaos.'' Dominic said as he took some deep breaths to calm himself down from the mini-heart attack he just experienced, looking up at the tall golden coffin that stood before him. Like the statues he had investigated before, the sarcophagus was made to resemble Queen Enigma, green eyes, black fur, black and gold attire and all. The Enigma on the sarcophagus had its arms in a cross and its hands resting on its shoulders, signifying that this was where she was laid to rest. This must be where her body lies, I could really use some assistants right about now.” Dominic swallowed, still a little shaken by the sudden surprise, slowly creeping his way towards the sarcophagus, knowing that this would be the most important part of his investigation. drew closer to the coffin, caution all over his face, he lifted his torch up to illuminate it a little better, only for something else to catch his attention. Above Enigma’s sarcophagus, Dominic could see that there were more hieroglyphics on the wall, but this time, they were in written form. The Neo-Mobian was momentarily distracted as he lifted his torch a little higher to see that there was a whole paragraph of ancient, cultural writing above the Queen’s coffin. This made Dominic frowned in response. \"Oh great...More hieroglyphics! I wonder what they mean? if I knew how to read 'em.” Dominic growled with a glare on his face. Since he for sure knew that this would be an an important quote that might be worth jotting down. If Dominic had to take a guess, he suspected that it was some sort of inscription that reflected the Queen’s life and her legacy, likely honoring her time as ruler of Sandopolis, or perhaps cursing her as this awful tyrant if everything he’s heard about her so far was anything to go by.\n\n\"I need to find a way out here but there's no exit in the distance...and I can't do anything like take photos or contact anyone. Man...I am so fucking over with this shit.'' Dominic growled frustratedly as he roughly tapped his foot repeatedly. Dominic's eyes then drifted to the staff. “Huh. This must be the staff she had while she was in power. Quite interesting I must say.” Of course, Dominic knew that a pharaoh’s staff was the most important thing to them, as it represented divine authority, power and order. Though he wondered why it was buried here in Enigma's tomb, as he figured it would have been passed down to the pharaoh that came after her. “Maybe they wanted to bury her with all her possessions?” Dominic theorized, as he slowly bent down onto one knee to examine it a little closer “Still, that could be a nice artifact to take back home with me to display in Jewel’s museum after all.” Dominic then reached down to pick it up, curling his fingers around the middle of the staff and lifting it out of the sand. He shook the sand particles off of it and admired it in his grasp. \"Just how I'm gonna take this along with other things with me is the real question.'' Dominic asked to himself. Dominic was suddenly whisked from his thoughts as he suddenly realized that something was happening to the staff. The eyes of the jackal head on the top of the staff were starting to glow green. It's glow got brighter and brighter until it started illuminating the entire tomb with a bright, green hue. Dominic’s expression changed from curiosity to concern with a little bit of fear in the span as he stared at the bright green eyes of the staff head. \"What the hell is going on!?'' Dominic exclaimed, staring at the trembling sarcophagus as he had a feeling he knew exactly what was happening. But indeed it was. “Oh no.” He added. The energy that was flowing around the coffin eventually stopped buzzing, leaving it lightly smoking. The front of it then began to slowly open up, revealing what was inside of it to the Neo-Mobian hedgekoala. His eyes widened in horror as he stared at the site before him. It was none other than the very person he had come to research, the first Pharaoh of Sandopolis. Sitting inside the sarcophagus, eyes closed, arms crossed and hands to shoulders, black fur, golden and black Egyptian-style attire and all, it was none other than Queen Enigma! The dark furred jackal’s eyes suddenly opened, filled with bright green lively light, and her head jerked forwards as her eyes landed on the hedgekoala standing before her resting place and holding the very staff she used during her rule so very long ago. \"Oh great.'' Dominic said inside of his mind in an annoyed manner. ''Dominic the Hedgekoala'' she spoke in a deep, intimidating voice, moving her arms and legs for the first time in 5000 years, walking out of her sarcophagus as if she just woke up from an afternoon nap “I have been waiting for you, my servant.” She added.\n\n''Servant!?” Dominic Taking a carefully backwards step away from the freshly revived jackal. \"And how the fuck does she know my name?'' Dominic said to himself. “Yes” confirmed Enigma, holding out an open hand towards Dominic. The hedgekoala yelped as the golden staff shot out of his hands and flew in the air towards Enigma, who caught it without even flinching. She held onto the staff firmly and clanked it against the ground, the very sound of it hitting the sandy floor sending shivers down his spine. “Finally, after waiting for so very long, I can finally take my rightful place as ruler once more” she announced, her voice echoing throughout the entire tomb. \"Okay. None of this make sense anymore.'' Dominic growled as he was getting irritated once again. ''I have must've hit my head a little too damn hard when I landed here. Because now this jackal lady here wants me to be her servant, and all this other shit. Are you fucking kidding me!'' Dominic growled to himself.\n\n“I must thank you for awakening me from my slumber.” said Enigma, walking towards the hedgekoala hybrid, stopping in front of him and towering over him “I knew that someday that you would come to revive the rightful Queen of Mobius.” “He wouldn’t have even come here if it wasn’t for me, our Queen!” shouted a voice from directly behind Dominic. Both Dominic and Enigma turned their attention to the voice, Dominic’ eyes widening in shock, while Enigma’s eyebrows rose in mild amusement. The very same pair of jackal gals that Dominic had believed was helping him this whole time. She was on the other side of the tomb, having just entered through a secret door that Dominic didn't knew. Both girls walked proudly into the tomb, the stone door slamming shut behind him. ''My god, I'm seriously gonna blow a fucking fuse IF SOMEONE DON\"T TELL ME WHAT\"S GOING ON!!'' Dominic said angrily. “I see you’ve gone through the liberty of releasing the Queen for us” the first Jackal commented. “You’ve made our job much easier than we originally anticipated.”\n\n“What....are....you....fucking..... talking about!?” Dominic said with more anger building up in him. A ruthless pharaoh who was supposed to be dead was back from the grave alive and well, and now their guide was claiming that he had released her for them!\n\n'\n\n'You sure are useful.'' both nameless jackal girls laughed cruelly. As they laughed in his face, Dominic did nothing but just glare angrily at them. Dominic's eyes widened at what he saw. Engraved in the palm of one of the jackal's palm of their hand and it was was a symbol. But not just any symbol. It was the same symbol that was painted above Enigma and the jackal that was bowing before her in the hieroglyph he had seen before he located the sarcophagus. The green Egyptian eye, glowing bright in the palm of the female jackal's hand, his head quickly turned back to the very hieroglyph of Enigma, the jackal and the green eye symbol and his face turned into one of horror. \"Oh boy....don't tell me what I think you two are?'' Dominic said, clearly lost for words. “Now you’re putting it together” The second jackal giggled, as she continued to walk towards Dominic and Enigma, standing by Dominic’s side before Enigma. “My Queen, we have returned.” She added.\n\n“I see you two have taken the liberty of bringing the key to my conquest of Mobius to me. You have served me well, my loyal servant.” Enigma said. “Thank you, my Queen” said the jackal girl, dropping to one knee and bowing before Enigma, showing her loyalty to her. Dominic was completely and utterly speechless. He had been used to bring a ruthless tyrant back to life, and now she was planning on reclaiming her rule as not just the pharaoh of Sandopolis, but Queen of all of Mobius. “As for you, my Neo-Mobian servent” said Enigma, turning her attention to Dominic. “I also thank you for awakening me from my long, long sleep. 5000 years was most certainly a long wait.” She added. “Tell me about it.” agreed both jackal girls. “Having to spend 5 whole centuries waiting for one hedgekoala to come to your land can drive someone to the point of madness.” Dominic blinked. \"Man, I regret getting into this mess.'' Dominic huffed. “But of course” answered Enigma, turning her attention back to Zero “I always reward those most loyal to me. As a thanks for bringing Dominic the hedgekoala right to me, I shall put you two out of your misery.” She said. \"Wait, what!'' Both Jackal ladies shouted. ''Yes.'' said Enigma, the head of her staff glowing bright green, along with her eyes “You two heard me quite clear.” She added. “We have worshipped you endlessly for years, even after you were sealed in this rotten place, and after everything we’ve done to bring you back to life, now you’re just going to erase us from existence just like that.” Both girls spoke up. “Your loyalty to me has been admirable, ladies.” spoke Enigma, her voice starting to echo through the entire tomb “But unfortunately, I have no need for old blood in my future Kingdom. Goodbye.” Enigma said as she snapped her fingers and both jackal girls slowly turned into dust. Hundreds of bright green light sparks began to travel out of the female jackal duo's bodies and towards Enigma’s staff. The staff was absorbing the very power that had been keeping these two females alive for the past 5000 years. Dominic watched in shock and horror as they slowly fade away from existence.\n\nDominic stared as he now only saw an pile of dust. “Now” said Enigma, turning back to Dominic now that they were alone once again “Where were we?” ''What are you doing now. KILL ME AS WELL!!'' Dominic growled. 'Hmhmhmhm” Enigma chuckled softly “Don’t worry my little stud muffin, I won’t do anything to you. I have my own plans for you.” She added. \"What are you going to do with me.'' Dominic asked as he formed a defensive pose. “I already told you, I have no intention in doing anything to you” Enigma repeated. “What I am going to do is make this world pay for defying my rule. I shall bring every last Mobian on this planet bow before me, as I take my rightful place as Mobius’ leader. And you’re going to help me.”\n\n\"OH HELL.....THE FUCK.....NO!!! I\"M NOT DOING ANY OF THAT SO FORGET IT!! Dominic shouted angrily. “Oh, I assure you, you will” said Enigma, her eyes briefly glowing nice and bright for a second “As my loyal servant, you don’t have a choice. But don’t worry, you’ll learn to love it.” She added as she snapped her fingers and what happened next made Dominic really horrified beyond belief. It was Sonic and Tails themselves standing next to her on each side, their fur being slightly more darker, eyes are an glowing green, and just clearly in corrupted states before they disappeared. This really made Dominic's mind finally snap seeing that his buddies where captured and became her assistants. \"You..........FUCKING......BITCH!!'' Dominic yelled at the top of his lungs with some electricity pulsing around his quills and his eyes turning from a blue to a fiery red, Dominic was clearly ready to charge at this lady. \"YOU CAPTURED MY FRIENDS THIS ENTIRE TIME AND NOW YOU WANT ME TO BE YOUR SERVENT!!! FUCK....THAT!!!'' Dominic yelled. ''How in the fuck could I be your servant if you didn't even knew me at all.'' Dominic growled. “Did you not read the prophecy that was written above my coffin?” questioned Enigma, tilting her head at the hedgekoala. Dominic wondered what the ever living hell she could be talking about, but then his eyes shifted back towards the coffin the 5000 year old jackal had emerged from, and once more saw the hieroglyphics that were encrypted in the wall above it. “I can’t read hieroglyphics.\" Dominic blinked, making the Pharaoh raise her eyebrows at him. “Is that so?” she said, looking surprised by Dominic’s lack of knowledge in hieroglyphics. “Very well, in that case, I shall translate for you.” Enigma said as he turned around and faced the wall, looking up at the message that was above her coffin. She held up a single hand and the hieroglyphics began to glow bright green as she proceeded to read them, each word lighting up as she translated for him.\n\n“In the distant sands of time, the rightful Queen of Sandopolis shall emerge once more,\" she announced. “Her faithful servant, a cocky hedgekoala of unparalleled wisdom and determination, will traverse the ages to pay homage at her tomb after 5000 years. Upon her reawakening from the depths of slumber, she will summon forth a loyal army, ready to reclaim her throne and restore her dominion over the realm of Mobius.” Dominic's eyes widened even more as Enigma read the hieroglyphics to him. The message encrypted in the wall wasn’t a quote or an inscription that painted her legacy as Pharaoh at all. It was indeed a prophecy! Suddenly, the fear of the locals made much more sense, the way they shook at the mention of Enigma’s name and how they feared that she would one day return. And thanks to him. Those fears had come true, and Dominic was clearly flabbergasted by all of it.\n\n''I-I don't understand.'' Dominic said with total fear and frustration. ''Why would I be destined for something so goddamn awful, something that's just not me?'' He added. “You came here to learn about my history, did you not?” Enigma questioned, turning her attention back to him.'' \"Yeah, and I don't want not to want learn any more stuff about it, not after the shit I witness.'' Dominic said bluntly. “Well, here’s an interesting bit of history for you.” she said, waving her staff in the air, the head of it glowing bright green once again “Have a seat.”\n\nDominic gasped as he was suddenly swept off his feet, and landed butt first into a little chair made out of sand. Enigma had used her powers to conjure the sand beneath them into a solid object, morphing it into a chair for him. You see, my new servant.” Enigma began “I was not always the powerful sorceress you see before you. I was once just a weak, useless, pathetic young jackal. Born into a family of slaves, enslaved by an army of bandits who forced me, my family, and others like us, to dig through the large, empty, vast deserts for gold, which they would then take for themselves. Ever since I was a young girl, I was slaving away at every hill, digging for hours upon hours for anything shiny, only for it to be snatched up by those greedy bandits.” She added. Dominic honestly couldn’t help but feel a bit of sympathy for Enigma. Sure, he knew that she wasn’t a good person. Not only was she a ruthless tyrant, but she clearly had no problem killing those who were loyal to her. ''But my life changed when I was digging away as normal one day” she continued “... when I stepped into a pile of quicksand. I was stuck, sinking into the thick, sandy abyss. I cried for help, desperately trying to get the person who was watching over me to notice. But they just laughed at my misfortune, whilst ordering all the other slaves to keep on searching for gold. I tried to get the attention of my fellow slaves. But not one of them lifted a finger to try and save me, they all left me there to die. But little did they know, that would end up being the worst mistake of their entire lives.”\n\n“The quicksand I sank in wasn’t just any old quicksand” Enigma went on “It was covering up some kind of ancient mobian underground sanctuary. When I fell through it, I found myself surrounded by a group of living statues. They told me that they were the gods that created this land, responsible for the very sand we walked upon, and to see the lands they had crafted, used as treasure hunting ground while their people were used as these criminals' shovels, it angered them.” She continued. Dominic knew that he should be trying to find a way out of here before things got worse, because it was clear as day that Enigma had plans of taking over the world and taking him along for the ride. But he couldn’t help himself, he was too intrigued in her backstory, it was just in his nature or something. He wanted to know where this story was about to go. “They told me that if these outsiders wanted to use their land for their own greed and prosperity, then they would give them something they would never forget” Enigma went on. “So they harnessed their ancient power to me, turning me into the very sorceress you see before you.” “I proceeded to return to the hunting grounds, bringing every last captor to their knees, forcing them to bow before their new leader” Enigma continued. “My people cheered for my actions, believing that I had set them free. But I didn’t forget what they did. They all had the chance to save me, but they were too scared to stand up to their oppressors. What made these exhibits so special was that they featured evidence and artifacts from the respected mobian cultures. Jewel often received compliments from her various guests about going out of her way to actually find these artifacts herself to display them to the public so they could learn about what the Mobians of the past lived like. But Jewel was quick to tell her guests that the real credit should go to her assistants, especially Dominic the Hedgekoala. For 5 years now. Sonic and Tails's friend, Dominic had been helping around at the Mineral Museum. From guiding guests whenever jewel had a day off to studying the artifacts. But he also used his recent interest in archaeology to journey across Mobius and learn of the ancient history of different Mobian cultures as his buddy Tails encouraged him. Dominic would also bring back stuff form museum to display, whether it be fossils to guns and weapons, and so on and so fourth and it always had an interesting story behind it too. Even bringing back stuff regarding his Neo-Mobian history.\n\nJewel was impressed with how thorough the blue hedgehog and twin-tailed fox's friend was with and knew that she and others could count on him to bring back something new for her to display in her museum. She was determined to make her Museum the perfect place for all of Mobius to learn about their vast history, dating all the way back to the prehistoric ages, and she had a very big task for Dominic to do this time around. Jewel wanted to open a history gallery no one has seen before for ages. The Ancient Mobian Pharaoh of Sandopolis; Queen Enigma. The exhibit about the Pharaoh lineage and history already exists in the museum but there was still a lot of history that was left unknown. As they had yet to feature one of the very first Mobian Pharaohs who ruled over ancient Sandopolis over 5000 years ago.\n\n''Hey, Dominic.'' Jewel said as she greeted Dominic. ''Hey, Jewel. But the name that titled the page gave him all the information he needed to know. “Huh, Queen Enigma? Dominic added. “Yes, it is” Jewel confirmed “As well as one of the only rulers of Sandopolis who anyone has yet to document an accurate history for. I’m determined to change that. And I know that if there’s anyone out there who can dig deep and learn what kind of legacy she left behind, it’s you.” She added. ''I'm flattered, Jewel. You know me quite well here, now you know how Sonic and Tails feel. '' Dominic said as Jewel had this much faith in him. Truth be told, he had check out and solved plenty of uncovered and incredible history that many thought was unsolvable before.“ So you’ll do it?” asked Jewel. ''Well yeah. Besides, I contacted Sonic and Tails to help assist me with it along the way.'' Dominic said. “Excellent!” Jewel exclaimed, clapping her hands together “You know the drill. Dominic can already feel a sweat growing from the heat of the desert and he had only just arrived.he exclaimed “I forgot how hot this place was. Heh, if it means showing off my body with glistening detail then I'll take it. ''Dominic said as he noticed beads of sweat drip down all over his buffed body, from his pecs and his abs to his arms. ''Well, I can’t stand around all day. I’ve got a task to do here.” Dominic then walked around town and was greeted with the site of many locals going about their day. He then haptic tapped his wrist ring to show the information on Sandopolis in recent years He vaguely knew that several years ago, the area was governed under a monarchy under total authority. But Dominic knew he couldn’t get distracted by the impressive transformation that Sandopolis had taken over the years. He had been sent here to uncover the history of Queen Enigma. Unfortunately, Dominic had no such luck finding any really useful information. Everyone he asked told him that they knew nothing about Enigma. Of course, Dominic wasn’t expecting anyone who served under Enigma at the time to still be alive, she had been gone for over 5000 years now, and for sure anyone who was under her rule at the time was also long gone. \"Man, it seems I have yet to find any info on Queen Engima, even my ring can't seem to get any info on it which in all honesty, that's surprising to say the least. I would also expected Sonic and Tails to meet up with me here but I just can't seem to find them.'' When he faced the culprit, he found himself staring at a couple of black and white furred, female mobian jackals. The jackals wore brown thobes that covered most of their bodies and light brown djellabas that covered most of their faces with only their eyes being seen. “Are you the one who’s been asking everyone around town about Queen Enigma?” asked the female jackal on the left. \"Yes....yes I am. And I was wondering if you two knew about her?.'' Dominic asked. “The people around here aren’t going to be of help to you” explained the jackal on the right. “They all tremble in fear at the mention of Queen Enigma.” She added. \"Yeah, no kidding. But I wonder why, tho? did she do something so terrible that makes these people forget about he existence. Dominic added as she crossed his arms. “Well, yes. But It goes far beyond that” said the jackal on the right. “Queen Enigma was a ruthless tyrant, who became infamous along our long lineup of Pharaoh’s as one of, if not, the most evil oppressor in not just Sandopolis, but all of Mobius. She captured her subjects and forced them into slavery, made them all work non-stop, and forced those who didn’t comply to be her personal servants.” She added. \"It was also heavily rumored that Queen Enigma had some kind of unspoken power” replied the female jackal on the left. “And I don’t mean diplomatic power… I mean real power, of the supernatural kind. The female jackal on the left added.\n\n \n\n\"Okay...wow. That's one way to make these people fear her.'' Dominic said. \"Just thinking about it just sends chills down my spine.'' He added. \"Was she was like a sorceress?\" questioned Dominic, wanting to know more about it. ''You could say that, yes” said the jackal on the right. “Though this rumored power wasn’t something she flaunted all the time, and only a select few, namely those who were forced to be her personal servants, actually saw her use these powers of hers. So it’s highly likely that her supernatural power was all made up, though there is no way to disprove the theory. As we stated before, the supernatural power she supposedly had was purely a rumor” explained the female jackal. “And her short rule came from her subjects finally standing up to her tyrannical ways. So they all banded together to trap her in one of the pyramids she had forced them to build, effectively turning it into her tomb, sealing her away for the rest of her life. But even with Queen Enigma gone, more rumors spread across Sandopolis” continued the jackal lady. “Rumors that she would one day emerge from her tomb, seeking revenge on not just Sandopolis, but on the entire world of Mobius. She warned her captors that she would one day return to reclaim her rightful rule over the land, and thus, despite being gone for 5 millennia, our people still live in fear that she will return one day.” She added. \"Hmmmm.....Interesting I think know why now...Do you know anymore about Queen Enigma?'' Dominic asked the female jackal duo as he knew one thing was certain for sure, it definitely made for a good story, one that Dominic was really positive that Jewel would appreciate having in her museum. Dominic answered, now feeling very suspicious by the fact these two mysterious mobian jackal ladies seemed to know what he was thinking right now and how did they knew the Hedgehog and Fox Duo was there. “Well, if you’re truly eager to learn all that there is to know about Queen Enigma, we can guide you there if you like?” Said the Jackal on the left. 'Though we must warn you. Her resting ground is full of deadly traps that were set by the locals in order to prevent outsiders from entering the very womb that holds the sarcophagus where she rests, mainly out of fear that they will accidentally set her free.” She added. ''If it's a risk I'm willing to take, I'll do it.'' Dominic said. He knew he didn’t like disrespecting the cultures of other mobian people, but he couldn’t help but roll his eyes at that comment. He got that the people were scared that Enigma would return, but surely if she really was destined to return, it would have happened by now. It had been 5000 years, and no body could survive living for that long without decomposing. Though it also was giving him second thoughts about entering the pyramid if he was at risk of getting seriously hurt, or even killed at the hands of any booby traps. But at the same time, this wasn’t his first time risking his life in the name of history. But he had a task at hand that he needed to accomplish. The Hedgekoala had went through worse so this isn't new to him in anyway.\n\n \n\n\"You're quite the brave one.'' Commented the Jackal on the right. “Then it is decided. Come, we shall leave immediately.” She added. The duo walked past Dominic and began making their way towards the edge of the city, where nothing upon layers of sand a several pyramids awaited. Dominic watched for a moment before quickly following behind the jackals. Both of them glanced over their shoulders to make sure that Dominic was still following behind them. The hedgekoala couldn’t see it due to most of his face being covered by their djellabas, but the jackal duo's mouths had curled into sinister smirks. The curious hedgekoala had fallen right into their trap, and soon enough, their plans he had been scheming for several years would finally come into fruition. ‘Soon’ they thought in the safety of their minds, clenching their hidden hands into a determined fists ‘You shall claim your rightful place once more, our Queen.’ One of them added.\n\nAs the hours slipped by during their walk to Queen Enigma’s tomb, the hedgekoala and the jackals made their way out of Sandopolis City, stepping into the vast embrace of the desert’s hills. The sun blazed fiercely overhead, turning their journey into a hot, sweaty trial, each ray kissing their fur with a burning touch. A gust of wind whipped through the arid expanse, hurling blistering grains of sand against their ankles, while the horizon stretched endlessly before them. Apart from the city that was now several miles behind them and the tall, imposing pyramids that stood sentinel in the distance. “So…this seems to be the place.'' Dominic said. \"Yes...Now follow us.'' One of the female jackals said as they headed to the pyramid spanning over a 100 feet tall. The trio then entered the pyramid. “You can still change your mind and back out if you desire?” Said the second jackal. \"Nah, I’ve come too far to back out now. Even after walking in the heat, I would rather not go through that again.” “So be it.” Said the first female jackal.\n\nWith the knowledge that this place was heavily booby trapped, Dominic stepped inside with caution, slowly walking into the dark, gloomy passageway. He instantly felt relieved as the inside of the pyramid was already much cooler than the hot, blistering desert outside. Though it was certainly far more eerie and threatening, with there not being a single shred of light to illuminate the way. ''Holy shit.'' Dominic muttered. ''I knew I should have bring a torch with me.'' He added. “Do not fret, our friend” Said one of the Jackals, as a sudden ray of light shone from directly behind Dominic, making the hedgekoala turn around to see the first black furred jackal holding a torch in her uncovered hand “I came prepared. Now watch your step, the traps in this place can be activated by stepping on the wrong brick.” ''Yeah, like I'm not gonna be careless and walk into the wrong ones.'' Dominic said in a cocky manner. One of the jackals then step onto a cracked brick into the ground and a barrage of arrows suddenly shot out of the wall on the left, slamming into the wall on the right before clattering to the floor, one of them barely hit Dominic's leg. \"Woah!'' Dominic exclaimed. “And just a heads up” The female jackal continued. “That was the tamest trap of the bunch. As we continue our journey, they will only become more dangerous.” She added.\n\n\"Noted” Dominic replied before he try to sped off but tripped. \"Fuck.... this is just great, this place somehow limits my abilities.'' Dominic was still a little shocked at how close they got his leg grazed by the arrow but also now ticked off that he can't even run fast. Time went by as the duo travelled through the pyramid’s dark hallway, the two Jackals leading the field and the green neo-mobian speedster himself trailing behind. The three of them had a few more close calls with the traps that followed. Such as the floor opening up to reveal a hole full of spikes, a torrent of fire spewing out from one of the walls, and a crusher that nearly squashed them flat. All of which were activated by Dominic's carelessness. \"Look, how do i know these traps are placed perfectly and i'm just walking into them.'' Dominic said with slightly annoyed.\n\n“It’s fine” one of the jackals replied. Dominic could notice a hint of irritation in her voice “You don’t know this place like we do.” She added. ''Yeah, no shit.'' Dominic said, starting to get really irritated himself. How do you know this place so well anyway, if I was wondering?” asked Dominic, sticking as close to the females as he could, figuring that would be the best way to make sure he didn’t trigger any more traps.\n\n“Because the people of Sandopolis fear that Queen Enigma may one day return, they’ve tasked me with scouting this place and keeping an eye open for any signs that might signal her return” explained the first jackal. \"We and a few others frequently visit this pyramid to explore every last area within to make sure everything is as I’ve left it. If I do see any signs that indicate the Queen’s restoration, I must warn the rest of the city so we can prepare.” “Do you two really believe that she’ll return one day?” Dominic questioned, still skeptical about her returning despite being away for over 5000 years. “Yes” replied the second jackal. “We believe she will. When? we do not know. But me and her sincerely believe that she did indeed have some kind of mystical power that made her so feared.” She added.\n\n''Pfft. Oh please.'' Dominic said. rolling his eyes “If Enigma really did have some kind of magical abilities. Don’t you think she would have used them to escape a long time ago? Or used them to stop those who trapped her in here? If you ask me, she was just making some empty threats and everyone just ate them up, like come on now.” he added. “Perhaps” one of them responded. ''I think I see light on the other side of the tunnel!” Dominic said as the jackal duo looked to where he pointed at. The three of them had finally reached the other end of the seemingly endless corridor, as a flickering light could finally be seen on the other side. ''That’s the entrance to the tomb area.” Said both jackals, who suddenly sped up their walking “We are almost there.'' Both added. ”Woah! wait up, you two!” Dominic exclaimed, quickly speeding up his own tempo to keep up with them. The three of them powerwalked the rest of the way until they exited the corridor. They now found themselves in a small room, dimly illuminated by several torches alit with fire neatly placed among the walls. In front of them was what appeared from a distance to be a dead end, but upon closer inspection, it was a door. And painted on the door was a picture of a pitch black jackal Mobian standing tall and proud. The jackal was depicted with bright green eyes, a black and golden nemes headdress, a golden necklace with a cyan gem in the middle, a pair of golden bracelets and anklets, black and gold body armor and held a golden Egyptian-styled staff in one hand.\n\n\"Heh, I guess this is the pharaoh herself.'' Dominic said. “Yes” the first Jackal answered before Dominic even had a chance to finish his question. “The first pharaoh, Queen Enigma herself.” She added. “Before us is the doorway to her tomb” the second jackal explained. “Behind it is a staircase that leads deep underground to a dungeon where all her possessions were laid to rest with her, as well her body, resting in the sarcophagus that her captors forced her in.” She added. “Sooooo, is there a way to get in or what.'' Dominic asked. “There is a switch somewhere in this room that will make the door open” said the first Jackal. “We need your help to search for it. Pat the walls and push against every brick you can find.” “Now hold up.” said Dominic, raising an eyebrow at the two. “Don’t you know where it is? You said that you two visit here frequently to make sure everything is as it should be, something don't seem right to me.” Dominic said bluntly. “We don’t visit here THAT often” replied the second jackal. “We have our own lives to live outside of this place you know.” She added.\n\n''Okay, Fine. Geez, man.'' Dominic said, raising his hands to try and diffuse the situation, not wanting to accidentally start something between the three of them. But he won't lie, they were really start to push his buttons. “I’ll get looking.” He added. “You check the left side, We’ll check the right” One of them ordered him, walking towards the right side of the wall, proceeding to feel up against every brick. Dominic did the same on his side of the room, pressing his hands firmly against the cold stone. The three of them continued feeling up the wall for a good 5 minutes, and so far they’d come up with nothing. Fatigue was starting to set in for Dominic as he swore he had felt nearly every brick on his side of the wall, and nothing had happened yet. Dominic was starting to get impatient.\n\n“Are you sure that there’s a switch in here?” Dominic spoke up “Because I can almost guarantee you that I’ve felt every little inch of this wall and that door hasn’t moved an inch.'' He added. “Keep trying!” One of them replied, his tone sounding suspiciously snappy “It’s in here somewhere. We need to test every last brick in this room until we find the right one.”\n\n“I fucking swear.” Dominic growled under his breath getting really pissed off, side-stepping to the right to continue feeling up the wall.“If this entire thing was just some bullshit ass story you two made up, I’m seriously going to-”\n\nCLICK!\n\nDominic was cut off when he felt his foot suddenly dip down against the brick he had stepped on. His eyes widened and his green fur bristled as he looked down and lifted his foot up. concern starting began to set in as he realized he had stepped on another cracked brick, a.k.a; another pressure plate. “Did you step on another pressure plate!?” One of the female jackals shouted. \"Uh duh, you dumb bitch!'' Dominic growled, clearly over with their nonsense. What do you think it wa-AAAAAA!!''\n\nThe wall that Dominic was pressing against suddenly gave away, flipping back until it was a slant. Since Dominic was leaning against it before it flipped, the hedgekoala hybrid now had nothing to lean against, and toppled forward, landing on his stomach and sliding down the slant into the dark entrance. “YOU FOOL!” the first jackal called out to him, rushing towards the opening to jump in after Dominic, only for it to close up again before she could follow him. She pounded her fist against the wall, trying to get it to open up again. But when it wouldn’t budge, she let out a growl in frustration.\n\n“Arrrrggghhh!” she snarled, punching the brick angrily. “That thrown our entire plan off course! Now what are we supposed to do!” The female added. ''You do realize that WAS part of the plan all along.'' The second jackal said as she walked up to her making the first female quickly realized and then smirked at her.\n\nMeanwhile, Dominic was screaming as he slid down the slant. It was like the world's most painful side, as it constantly twisted and turned in many different directions, causing the hedgekoala to smack his head against every corner he ran into as he continued to slide down. The hedgekoala felt like he was tumbling forever before the slant took a sudden steep drop, making him fall directly downwards.\n\n''AHHHHHHH!!!'' Dominic cried as he fell, eventually falling through a hole that led to a large room as he bounced around a few times before coming to a stop. He looked down and saw himself heading for a large patch of orange sand. \"THIS IS GONNA HURT!!!!'' Dominic growled loudly, before he landed face first on the sand. Dominic groaned out in pain as his face buried itself into it from the impact. It was far from a comfortable landing, but on the plus side, it had softened the impact from the fall, meaning that he was really sore, but still alive. 'ARRRRGGHHH....FFFF-FUCK!'' Dominic screamed out in pain. Pulling his face out of the sand and spitting out several grains that had landed in his mouth “Why did I ever agreed to come to this fucking place? and hearing more about Enigma’s story when this is gonna cause problems if Sonic and Tails weren't with me.” Dominic growled as he was now pissed off about this whole situation. Dominic slowly got back onto his feet, though gingerly as his entire body ached from the fall. He brushed his hands through his hair to get the remaining sand particles out of his fur, and stretched out his limbs to try and ease the soreness away. It was then the sudden realization that he was all alone in an unknown room hit him like a sack of bricks. “Where the fuck am I anyways!?” The really pissed off Hedgekoala said. Looking around to check his surroundings.\n\nDominic could see that he had landed in a large room. Like the one he was in before with jackal girls, there were torches alit with fire that dimly illuminated the area. It wasn’t the best source of light, as it was still rather hard to see, but it was better than nothing at all. But unlike the last room he was in, it was not only much larger, but there was also a large sheet of sand covering the floor, and several trinkets laying around, either placed neatly against the walls or embedded into the sand. These trinkets included the likes of vases with Egyptian patterns, small bricks of gold, or statues of a very familiar looking jackal. It was then the Neo-Mobian realized where he was .“This must be Enigma’s tomb!” he exclaimed in surprise, but still really irritated. There was no doubt about it. This was definitely Enigma’s tomb, with all the artifacts in here resembling her in some way, with the statues being an enormous giveaway. Dominic’s eyes filled with wonder as he thought about all the mysteries that were about to be unveiled to him. \"Huh, That pressure plate I stepped on must have been a secret shortcut to her tomb. I hope I didn’t accidentally put those two in danger.'' Dominic said. He did felt bad for the two jackals despite they were really pushing his buttons, he didn't even get to know what their names were, he also did found them quite cute he will admit. But for now, he was on his own.\n\n“Well, since I’m here, I might as well do what I came here to do in the first place.” Dominic said to himself as he walked across the sandy floor, using the torch he removed from the wall to get a better look around. As he trudged through the ruins of the tomb, he closely inspected every vase and statue he came across. Each vase had painted hieroglyphic pictures, not unlike the one that was on the door in the last room, of Enigma ruling over her subjects with an iron fist. And each statue was quite obviously hand-crafted, likely by the other bars of gold that laid around the room, each one made to perfection. The pictures were of Queen Enigma once again. But this time, they were giving more of a clear answer of what kind of ruler she was. And they lined up pretty well with how the girls described her, as most of these pictures depicted Enigma brandishing a whip, and using it to make her subjects of many different species do what she wanted. Some of these tasks included carrying heavy bricks bigger than their bodies to create the pyramids, or forcing them to give up their gold so that she could have it for herself. Though one particular image caught the hedgekoala's interest more than any other. And that was an image of Enigma standing tall and proud, with one hand raised up. Before her was another one of her slaves, bowing before her, this one looking like a jackal, just like Enigma. Above them was a symbol that seemed to be a bright green Egyptian-like eye. Dominic raised an eyebrow at that image, wondering what that could be about. “Huh, that’s an interesting picture” Dominic commented as he examined it “Maybe this was her way of marking those non-compliant subjects as her servants? ''Seems like an ancient mobian jackal civilization, or tribe or something?'' He added. His torch then illuminated something that he had not laid his eyes on yet, it was a tall golden sarcophagus. Dominic yelped and jumped back at the sight, as the green eyes on the face of the sarcophagus were glowing bright from the light of his torch, making them look like they were alive. \"Sweet fucking chaos.'' Dominic said as he took some deep breaths to calm himself down from the mini-heart attack he just experienced, looking up at the tall golden coffin that stood before him. Like the statues he had investigated before, the sarcophagus was made to resemble Queen Enigma, green eyes, black fur, black and gold attire and all. The Enigma on the sarcophagus had its arms in a cross and its hands resting on its shoulders, signifying that this was where she was laid to rest. This must be where her body lies, I could really use some assistants right about now.” Dominic swallowed, still a little shaken by the sudden surprise, slowly creeping his way towards the sarcophagus, knowing that this would be the most important part of his investigation. drew closer to the coffin, caution all over his face, he lifted his torch up to illuminate it a little better, only for something else to catch his attention. Above Enigma’s sarcophagus, Dominic could see that there were more hieroglyphics on the wall, but this time, they were in written form.
