At least with 3D animators, initial render is PNG image sequence which is just bunch of frames as individual PNG files, then if the video editing software lacks support for codecs (or is like vegas where export is basically broken), exporting as AVI with lossless codec is usually needed also resulting like gigabyte file for tens of seconds of footage, which is then fed into transcoder. \n\"Best Animation Export Settings Tutorial [Scribble Kibble]\":https://youtu.be/ic1l7xPJOd8 \n\nAs for quality, discarding all other factors for now, main slider for it is bitrate. Not resolution, bitrate. If you are old enough to know the difference between 32kbps and 320kbps MP3, you know the difference. \nFor 1080p 24FPS in h264, rule of thumb has always been 10mbps bitrate, which is usually above treshold of great quality. This post is 4K video, the bitrate you used is 7.5mbps. Context of e621, filesize limit for videos is 100MB, this is 1.8MB. You are making your files way too fucking small is what I'm saying. \nIf you have no idea what bitrate to use, use constant quality mode and put CRF low enough, many say ~20 is good enough, but that's usually for IRL videos and for animations I would go 12-16 range (and then Adobe says \"fuck that\" and made the slider from 0-100 larger being better instead of the actual CRF scale of 0-64 lower being better). \nIf you are still scared of the filesize, use two pass and slower deadline/preset. \n\nAdditionally for some reason you decided to use obsolete VP8 as codec. Main problem is that as VP8 is older, it has less quality for given bitrate compared to newer VP9 and can have issues with Apple users. We have been on VP9 for decade and already moving to AV1 instead, so VP8 is old. \n\nI know these things are hard and require learning, but if you do animations more than once, you definitely want to learn more.
