  "description": "[b][u]MY PLACE s02:e23 - Sleepy Cyrus[/u][/b]\n\n“Oh!” Reese jumped as soon as she caught sight of my fiery head. “W-welcome, mayor! Are you here to recycle?”\n\n“No…” I sighed forlornly  “…actually yes, kinda. I don’t have anything to sell you, I was hoping you could help me out another way.”\n\n“What is it?” asked Reese “Um, does it have anything to do with your… heh, you-know-what?”\n\nI rolled my eyes. It was as if I could feel the weight of this damned hair cut sitting on top of me. “Ugh,” I groaned “I was wondering whether or not I could borrow some materials to make a hat or something. I’d go to the Ables, but I dare to imagine what other tricks they have up their sleeves.”\n\nReese giggled at that. She’s lucky she’s cute. Well, perhaps that’s a bit too mean to say. Her laugh was a comforting one with no sign of teasing – she just found the situation amusing.\n\n“Those sisters have always been a mischievous bunch. Mabel especially. You’d never tell from appearances, would you?”\n\n“I suppose not” I smiled, for the first time in a while. “So, can you help me out?”\n\n“Of course, I will!” she beamed “Afterall, it’s the least I can do for our mayor. You’ve been doing such great things for the town as of late.”\n\nThis massaging of my ego was dangerous, but I absorbed every word.\n Reese is right, I am great!\n\n“Although…” she continued, turning her gaze over to the other side of the shop “…I’m afraid when it comes to materials, we seldom have more than wood and sandpaper.”\n\n“You gotta have something over there!” I proclaimed, marching over to the little workshop near the window, the smell of wood chippings getting stronger the closer I got. “Heck, if all you can make for me is a top hat made of wood, then so be it!”\n\n“Oh! Do be careful, mayor!” Reese called, then in a whisper warned me: “Cyrus has been up all night working on some furniture. Please don’t wake him up!”\n\nI was practically leaning over the snoring blue alpaca when she alerted me of his presence. \n\n“Oh, snap! Sorry!! I mean… sorry!” I had barely registered his appearance on that little stool of his. Cyrus was often found in that spot, but he had become such a common element of the environment that I started to forget all about him.\n\nReese sighed once more, turning a sad gaze towards her sleepy husband. “It’s okay. He really shouldn’t be sleeping during the day like this, but he’s pushing himself so hard lately.”\n\n“Must be because of the businesses in town, right?” I inquired. “There’s Club LOL, Shampoodle-“ I said with a shudder “-whatever Mr Resetti’s doing…”\n\n“Mmhmm” Reese nodded “The new club especially was quite demanding for my poor hubby. I think he tries too hard to impress me sometimes, although I can’t deny that he did such a bang-up job with the place, don’t you think?”\n\n“Absolutely!” I said, marching past her with a finely crafted paper hat on my head. “Now, if you excuse me, I have to get back to mayor-ing!” With this headwear, I had for sure saved my dwindling reputation as a small-town politician.\n\n“Umm…” Reese winced “Are you sure that’s good enough? We probably have some wool lying around if we look hard enough?”\n\n“Nah, it’s fine. Cyrus had plenty of paper on that workbench of his, so I doubt he’ll mind me borrowing some. S-say, if I am just borrowing this, do I still have to pay?”\n\n“I don’t see why you’d have to pay to begin with if it’s just some scrap paper…”\n\nAnother win. I’m so good sometimes, it’s scary.\n “Okie dokie then!” I waved as I exited the building. “I’ll catch you later, Reese! Tell Cyrus I said hi when he wakes up!”\n\n“O-okay then. Bye, bye!”\n\nAnd that was that – another crisis averted by the world’s most resourceful mayor!\n I made my way to town hall, practising how I would explain away the incident with Yuka. Man, times like this, I really wish I had kept that turban…\n\n~Author’s Notes~\n I figured it had been a while since I had animated an episode of My Place so why the heck not. I realise now that the ending is quite abrupt, but I suppose it’s always been in the Mayor’s nature to find quick/dumb solutions to any given problem. \n\nThese last three episodes have been based on what happened after my first trip to Shampoodle during my actual playthrough of New Leaf. I ended up with a bad hair cut that was far from what I wanted, so I thought it would be funny to make a custom design of a newspaper hat to hide it from the villagers. This, and other small plot elements like it, where little in-jokes I made with myself years ago, so it’s been fun to reimagine them with a some refinement and visuals.",
