Apparently, this wasn’t the case. She informed me that the tent belonged to some fella named Redd, a travelling salesman.\n\nI cautiously investigated the scene, and inside I saw several paintings on display along with a fox eagerly awaiting my entry.\n\n“Ah!” he exclaimed with his paws clenched together “Welcome, welcome! Thank ya for visitin’ my shop!”\n\n“’sup?” I said (I’ve decided that I’m now gonna start saying ‘sup more often) “Sorry but I thought you were loitering….”\n\n“…oh! Could this be your first time meeting ol’ Redd?” he asked “Well, ain’t that lovely! I’m always happy to meet fellow art lovers!”\n\n“Well to be honest” I said, finally making my way in “I’m not much of an art guy” I never did draw much back home and I have no idea if these paintings are worth anything.\n\n“Fear not, my friend. Here at Redd’s Gallery we specialize exclusively in the finest art you’ll ever see in this world! This is your one and only chance to buy a piece of famous art for a bargain that can only be CRAAAZY! But of course, since these are all really rare items, we sell only one item per customer—”\n\n“That’s cool and all” I interrupted “but I’m kinda strapped for cash right now and I have to pay off my mortgage…”\n\nHe laughed. “Oh, come now, don’t be shy! Look around all ya want! Hee hee hee!”\n\nSeems legit.\n I had a quick browse of his items, with no intention of purchasing any of them. I mean, these prices were ludicrous! Nearly 4,000 bells for some guy with finger guns!\n\n…something about this picture felt odd to me.\n I couldn’t quite figure it out, perhaps it was the subject of the painting. It looked like no animal I’d ever seen before. Weird.\n\nI could tell he was a bit upset after I left without buying anything, but I swear he was looking over my shoulder a little too closely as I looked at the extortionate prices. Later on, I realised that Blathers could use some paintings for his art gallery. I’ll make sure to save some money up for the next time Redd’s in town. He seemed… trustworthy enough…?\n\n \n\n~Author’s Notes~\n Won’t lie, I didn’t really have much in mind when it came to writing this episode, but a friend of mine really wanted to see Redd so I managed to fit him in here. Besides, it’s good to establish as many characters as possible during this first season.\n\nI also nearly hit a brick wall when I realised that the vast majority of Redd’s artwork contain humans, which of course don’t exist in the animal world of My Place. I was considering remaking the painting with animals in them, but instead I thought it would be funny if the mayor was just completely oblivious to what he was seeing. Maybe I’ll actually give an in-universe reason as to why Redd owns paintings from the human world, but for now it can just be one of those odd, unexplainable things.",

She informed me that the tent belonged to some fella named Redd, a travelling salesman.\n\nI cautiously investigated the scene, and inside I saw several paintings on display along with a fox eagerly awaiting my entry.\n\n“Ah!” he exclaimed with his paws clenched together “Welcome, welcome! Thank ya for visitin’ my shop!”\n\n“’sup?” I said (I’ve decided that I’m now gonna start saying ‘sup more often) “Sorry but I thought you were loitering….”\n\n“…oh! Could this be your first time meeting ol’ Redd?” he asked “Well, ain’t that lovely! I’m always happy to meet fellow art lovers!”\n\n“Well to be honest” I said, finally making my way in “I’m not much of an art guy” I never did draw much back home and I have no idea if these paintings are worth anything.\n\n“Fear not, my friend. Here at Redd’s Gallery we specialize exclusively in the finest art you’ll ever see in this world! This is your one and only chance to buy a piece of famous art for a bargain that can only be CRAAAZY! But of course, since these are all really rare items, we sell only one item per customer—”\n\n“That’s cool and all” I interrupted “but I’m kinda strapped for cash right now and I have to pay off my mortgage…”\n\nHe laughed. “Oh, come now, don’t be shy! Look around all ya want! Hee hee hee!”\n\nSeems legit.\n I had a quick browse of his items, with no intention of purchasing any of them. I mean, these prices were ludicrous! Nearly 4,000 bells for some guy with finger guns!\n\n…something about this picture felt odd to me.\n I couldn’t quite figure it out, perhaps it was the subject of the painting. It looked like no animal I’d ever seen before. Weird.\n\nI could tell he was a bit upset after I left without buying anything, but I swear he was looking over my shoulder a little too closely as I looked at the extortionate prices. Later on, I realised that Blathers could use some paintings for his art gallery. I’ll make sure to save some money up for the next time Redd’s in town. He seemed… trustworthy enough…?\n\n \n\n~Author’s Notes~\n Won’t lie, I didn’t really have much in mind when it came to writing this episode, but a friend of mine really wanted to see Redd so I managed to fit him in here. Besides, it’s good to establish as many characters as possible during this first season.\n\nI also nearly hit a brick wall when I realised that the vast majority of Redd’s artwork contain humans, which of course don’t exist in the animal world of My Place. I was considering remaking the painting with animals in them, but instead I thought it would be funny if the mayor was just completely oblivious to what he was seeing. Maybe I’ll actually give an in-universe reason as to why Redd owns paintings from the human world, but for now it can just be one of those odd, unexplainable things."
