"description": "MY PLACE s01:e34 - A Grateful Servant\n\nSeashells don’t sell for a crazy amount ‘round here, but I’ll take whatever I can get.\n …even if it means getting my nose assaulted by a hermit crab. Bluebear caught sight of my agony as I approached ReTail (as much as I tried to hide it) and kindly stuck a plaster on it. It still stings though, and it made me hesitate going back into town hall.\n\nAlas, however, I did return to that oddball secretary, who was surprised, shocked even, to see that I had fulfilled her wish.\n\n“Oh my!” she gasped “You actually remembered to bring me a seashell?!”\n\n“Well, you know, I just so happened to be passing by the beach and thought why not?” said the world’s worst liar.\n\n“Thank you so much!” Isabelle said as she gently took the shell from my hands “I’ll put it in my room and take good care of it!” Her reaction made me feel all warm and fuzzy. She just seemed to radiate happiness and sunshine, when she wasn’t getting too stressed out, at least. “Ooh, it’s a conch!” she said, analysing it with much enthusiasm “And such a nice colour too!”\n\n“You sure do know your shells” I remarked \n\n“Hm? Oh, well, I suppose… well, kinda, I used to, when I was younger. I hardly find the time collect much these days.” She sighed. “Place always had the best seashells… Oh! There I go again, daydreaming! It’s silly really, I just think that decorating a room with seashells can make for very interesting interior design!”\n\n“Yeah” I said “They’re cool. Not a fan of hermit crabs though.”\n\n“Is that what the plaster’s for?”\n\n“There’s no getting past you, is there?”\n\nShe giggled.\n “…Ah! Hold on!” she said, suddenly, and reached under her desk. She pulled up a paper box that had already been opened. “Please take this as thanks for the seashell. It’s from my mom, she recently sent me some peaches. Three, to be exact, and she specifically told me I should share them with people because that’s what good puppies do.” I nearly died. This was too cute. “Place is known for the pear” she continued “because it’s the local fruit, but my hometown is famous for the peach! I’m sharing them with you, so you can eat them, sell them, plant them, or do whatever you’d like!”\n\n“Hmm…” I thought “I think Yuka was complaining about the lack of fruit variety in town. She’s kinda hoarding all the oranges for herself, so this will balance things out a little.”\n\n“That’s good news” Isabelle nodded “You’re gonna want to buy a shovel. Timmy and Tommy sell them at their store on Main Street. Usually, anyway, they can only provide so much stock per day, the poor boys.”\n\n“How come Nook is making his kids work?” I asked, perhaps a bit too bluntly “Is that ethical?” I kinda felt bad for putting Isabelle on the spot but she managed to answer me without much apprehension.\n\n“Oh, I wouldn’t worry about them, mayor” she said “If anything, it was their idea! They’ve always wanted to work for Mr Nook.”\n\n“Is he their dad? Weird question, I know, but I’ve always gotten more of an uncle vibe from him.”\n\n“Well as a matter of fact, mayor, nobody’s really sure. Some say they’re his nephews, some say he adopted them… others think there’s no relation at all. It’s quite a mystery… but its hardly any of my business. He’s a very private man is Mr Nook, but a sweetheart none the less!”\n\n“Not the word I would use” I muttered.\n\n \n\n~Author’s Notes~\n Long time viewers may notice that today’s image is a mirror of #15 where Isabelle gives the Mayor a lantern. It’s like poetry. It rhymes. Though I wonder, is there too much bloom? I wanted the light to obscure a lot of the image, but I think I may have gone too far in a few places….\n\nAnyway, this chapter was quite significant for the progression of not only the relationship between the Mayor and Isabelle, but also their growth as characters. I added the tangent about Timmy and Tommy at the end to help establish more lore and help keep Tom relevant.",

I added the tangent about Timmy and Tommy at the end to help establish more lore and help keep Tom relevant."
