I seized up again, but then a voice pulled me out of my trance.\n\n“Mayor! We’re so happy you’re finally here!” exclaimed that blonde dog with the skirt.\n\n“Who’s this mayor?” I blurted. Perhaps the first time I’ve responded so quick to one of these weridos. I dunno, just being referred to as ‘mayor’ was so utterly bizarre that I couldn’t help but have an immediate reaction.\n\nThe dog was clearly not prepared for my retort.\n I swear for a moment I saw her smile completely vanish, her enthusiasm replaced with panic, if only for a brief second.\n\n“Um…” Then she laughed, awkwardly “Oh come on, quit joking around! You know exactly who you are! You told us which train you’d be arriving on!”\n\nLady, today has been a lot of things, but it has been anything but planned.\n\n“T-that wasn’t me!” I protested. I was getting really worried now. I wasn’t just in a place—DANG IT. I wasn’t just in a world I shouldn’t be, but now I was stealing somebody’s job!!\n\n“Oh no! You can’t fool me!” she replied “Things are just as you said they’d be! All is well. There’s no mistake!” She had a nice smile, but I could tell she was getting anxious. The way she seemed to bounce around my objections and continuously reassure everyone that things were fine came off as a little suspicious. “Tee hee, you’re a real jokester!”\n\n“W-wait!” \n\n“Well, let’s continue this discussion at Town Hall, shall we?” She thrust a map into my hands without giving me a chance to speak. What was with this girl? She seemed crazy, but not loco bananas crazy, more like hyper stressed out crazy. You and me both, I guess. “Here’s a map of Place for your reference, Mayor. That building highlighted in pink is Town Hall, so let’s head that way together, shall we?”\n\nThe other animals had already started to disperse, talking amongst themselves about me, presumably. I looked back towards the train station. The cat’s map and the one the dog just gave both read: “A Secluded Retreat” at the top. That did seem to be the case as the only way into the village was by train from the looks of it. I turned back to the well-dressed dog, who was now offering her hand. I casually declined it, moving ahead of her and asking: “this way?” to which she nodded.\n\nOkay man, we’ll explain everything when we get to this town hall, maybe she can help us out. Or maybe I should just role with it. Being mayor? I can barely take charge of my own life!\n\n \n\n~ Author’s Notes ~\n There she is.\n This part is quite important of course, as it is the first time our unwilling mayor meets his partner in crime, so to speak. I’m sure this is the start of a very productive and professional relationship.\n\nSomething about the composition of today’s pic bothers me but I can’t put my finger on what. Everything else is fine though, in my opinion. I wanted to drop hints in this chapter that Isabelle may or may not know that he’s not supposed to be the mayor; the subject of who was supposed to take on the role is pretty ambiguous, and I do have a reveal in mind, but for now I’ll let you guys theory craft.\n\nAs a final note, these are gonna stop being daily from now on.\n I figured it made sense to start it this way to ease into the story. I do plan on posting weekly, if not, every so often. I’m definitely not dropping this, so I hope you continue to enjoy the show. The next few will be going over the formalities of the first day but I’m hoping that things become more enjoyable as we move past that.\n\nSee ya!",

"description": "[b][u]MY PLACE s01:e05 - Who's this mayor?[/u][/b]\n\nSufficed to say, having a bunch of strangers - a bunch of unnatural, overgrown animal strangers - scream at me before I had even introduced myself did startle me a little. I seized up again, but then a voice pulled me out of my trance.\n\n“Mayor! We’re so happy you’re finally here!” exclaimed that blonde dog with the skirt.\n\n“Who’s this mayor?” I blurted. Perhaps the first time I’ve responded so quick to one of these weridos. I dunno, just being referred to as ‘mayor’ was so utterly bizarre that I couldn’t help but have an immediate reaction.\n\nThe dog was clearly not prepared for my retort.\n I swear for a moment I saw her smile completely vanish, her enthusiasm replaced with panic, if only for a brief second.\n\n“Um…” Then she laughed, awkwardly “Oh come on, quit joking around! You know exactly who you are! You told us which train you’d be arriving on!”\n\nLady, today has been a lot of things, but it has been anything but planned.\n\n“T-that wasn’t me!” I protested. I was getting really worried now. I wasn’t just in a place—DANG IT. I wasn’t just in a world I shouldn’t be, but now I was stealing somebody’s job!!\n\n“Oh no! You can’t fool me!” she replied “Things are just as you said they’d be! All is well. There’s no mistake!” She had a nice smile, but I could tell she was getting anxious. The way she seemed to bounce around my objections and continuously reassure everyone that things were fine came off as a little suspicious. “Tee hee, you’re a real jokester!”\n\n“W-wait!” \n\n“Well, let’s continue this discussion at Town Hall, shall we?” She thrust a map into my hands without giving me a chance to speak. What was with this girl? She seemed crazy, but not loco bananas crazy, more like hyper stressed out crazy. You and me both, I guess. “Here’s a map of Place for your reference, Mayor. That building highlighted in pink is Town Hall, so let’s head that way together, shall we?”\n\nThe other animals had already started to disperse, talking amongst themselves about me, presumably. I looked back towards the train station. The cat’s map and the one the dog just gave both read: “A Secluded Retreat” at the top. That did seem to be the case as the only way into the village was by train from the looks of it. I turned back to the well-dressed dog, who was now offering her hand. I casually declined it, moving ahead of her and asking: “this way?” to which she nodded.\n\nOkay man, we’ll explain everything when we get to this town hall, maybe she can help us out. Or maybe I should just role with it. Being mayor? I can barely take charge of my own life!\n\n \n\n~ Author’s Notes ~\n There she is.\n This part is quite important of course, as it is the first time our unwilling mayor meets his partner in crime, so to speak. I’m sure this is the start of a very productive and professional relationship.\n\nSomething about the composition of today’s pic bothers me but I can’t put my finger on what. Everything else is fine though, in my opinion. I wanted to drop hints in this chapter that Isabelle may or may not know that he’s not supposed to be the mayor; the subject of who was supposed to take on the role is pretty ambiguous, and I do have a reveal in mind, but for now I’ll let you guys theory craft.\n\nAs a final note, these are gonna stop being daily from now on.\n I figured it made sense to start it this way to ease into the story. I do plan on posting weekly, if not, every so often. I’m definitely not dropping this, so I hope you continue to enjoy the show. The next few will be going over the formalities of the first day but I’m hoping that things become more enjoyable as we move past that.\n\nSee ya!"
