Hey, I, um, didn’t wanna be so blunt, but it's kinda staring me in the face… just where on Earth did you get THAT!?” I pointed directly at a very expensive looking ornate wardrobe in the corner of his football-themed room. Amongst the rusty oil canisters and dirty laundry that hung by his open window, it certainly stood out.\n\n\n“Found it in a tree,” he explained.\n\n\nYou know, the worst part about Jitters’ weird answers is that, beneath that endless gaze, you know he’s being 100% genuine. Sure, he found a priceless antique in a tree as if it were one of its many leaves and put it up in his football pitch house. Why not?\n\n\n“I’m just saying,” I sighed after staring at him for a second, “it doesn’t exactly fit the aesthetics you got going on here.” I haven’t visited Jitters’ house much. Not like I’ve ever had good reason to, but he’s always out and about instead of sitting indoors, rain or shine. I remember the first time I visited and saw that he owned a gyroid. It was happening again, another sudden departure. Sure, Beardo had his reasons, but I remember how awkward and sad it was when Yuka left. This time, I wouldn’t let them go without clear answers. “Okay Jitters, what’s up? Is it something I said? Do you not like Place anymore? Is someone forcing you to leave? Please tell me.”\n\n\nHe looked down at his feet.\n“There… is somebody…” he affirmed, darker than I’ve ever heard him speak.\n\n\nNot something I wanted to hear at all.\n\n“Who?” I asked.\n\n\n“My girlfriend.” he said, handing me a letter with a photograph attached.\n\n\n“Y-your… what?”\n\n\n“My penpal girlfriend. I’m going to live with her now.”\n\n\nHe had given me a love note. The photo featured a very happy looking squirrel with blonde strands of hair and lime green fur.\n\n\n“This is her?” I asked. “This your girl?”\n\n\n“Yes. Her name is Nibbles.”\n\n\n“Has she seen what you look like?”\n\n\n“Yes. Why do you ask me that?”\n\n\n“No reason. No reason…”\n\n\n“She’s very funny,” he went on, “her letters make me happy. She likes that I work out and play soccer football. Her birthday is in July, she likes fashion, her favourite song is K.K Disco, she has eight freckles, her favourite coffee is mocha... and she once told me that ‘appearances are, like, totally deceiving’ which I thought was beautiful.”\n\n\nFor the first time in the several months I’ve lived in Place so far, being in JItters’ company made me feel warm. Once again, behind that vacant stare, I knew he was being completely serious. He loved this girl and she had made it clear that it didn’t matter what he looked like, she obviously loved him too.\n\n\n“I’m happy for you, man.” I smiled.\n\n\n“Thank you,” he replied, flatly.\n\n\nIt was subtle, perhaps too subtle to notice for most people, but in that moment... "description": "[b][u]MY PLACE s02:e60 - Jittery Feelings[/u][/b]\n\nWake up.\nEat breakfast.\nGo to town hall.\nPretend to work for an hour.\nHead outside.\nHit rocks.\nCatch fish with Simon for a while.\nAvoid Carmen.\nDo more favours for Whitney than she asked for.\nSay hi to Vlad and Becky.\n\n\nA perfectly normal, perfectly pleasant day in Place so far.\nJitters, however, would end up disturbing the mundanity when I entered his house and found him surrounded by cardboard boxes.\n\n\n“Doing some spring cleaning?” I asked.\n\n\n“It’s good exercise,” he said, “it keeps my pecs firm.”\n\n\n“Uh huh. Hey, I, um, didn’t wanna be so blunt, but it's kinda staring me in the face… just where on Earth did you get THAT!?” I pointed directly at a very expensive looking ornate wardrobe in the corner of his football-themed room. Amongst the rusty oil canisters and dirty laundry that hung by his open window, it certainly stood out.\n\n\n“Found it in a tree,” he explained.\n\n\nYou know, the worst part about Jitters’ weird answers is that, beneath that endless gaze, you know he’s being 100% genuine. Sure, he found a priceless antique in a tree as if it were one of its many leaves and put it up in his football pitch house. Why not?\n\n\n“I’m just saying,” I sighed after staring at him for a second, “it doesn’t exactly fit the aesthetics you got going on here.” I haven’t visited Jitters’ house much. Not like I’ve ever had good reason to, but he’s always out and about instead of sitting indoors, rain or shine. I remember the first time I visited and saw that he owned a gyroid. I spent more time talking to it instead of him!\n\n\n“I dunno.” he shrugged. “I think I might sell a lot of it at ReTail before I move out tomorrow.”\n\n“Ah, I see--wait WHAT!? You’re moving?”\n\n\nHe nodded, unphased as usual.\n\n\n“B-but you said you were just doing a bit of screen cleaning!” I reminded him.\n\n\n\n\"I am. I am cleaning up in the spring.\"\n\n\n\"What the heck, Jitters!? This is the first I'm hearing about this!\" It suddenly came to me. I remembered Yuka and Beardo before him. It was happening again, another sudden departure. Sure, Beardo had his reasons, but I remember how awkward and sad it was when Yuka left. This time, I wouldn’t let them go without clear answers. “Okay Jitters, what’s up? Is it something I said? Do you not like Place anymore? Is someone forcing you to leave? Please tell me.”\n\n\nHe looked down at his feet.\n“There… is somebody…” he affirmed, darker than I’ve ever heard him speak.\n\n\nNot something I wanted to hear at all.\n\n“Who?” I asked.\n\n\n“My girlfriend.” he said, handing me a letter with a photograph attached.\n\n\n“Y-your… what?”\n\n\n“My penpal girlfriend. I’m going to live with her now.”\n\n\nHe had given me a love note. The photo featured a very happy looking squirrel with blonde strands of hair and lime green fur.\n\n\n“This is her?” I asked. “This your girl?”\n\n\n“Yes. Her name is Nibbles.”\n\n\n“Has she seen what you look like?”\n\n\n“Yes. Why do you ask me that?”\n\n\n“No reason. No reason…”\n\n\n“She’s very funny,” he went on, “her letters make me happy. She likes that I work out and play soccer football. Her birthday is in July, she likes fashion, her favourite song is K.K Disco, she has eight freckles, her favourite coffee is mocha... and she once told me that ‘appearances are, like, totally deceiving’ which I thought was beautiful.”\n\n\nFor the first time in the several months I’ve lived in Place so far, being in JItters’ company made me feel warm. Once again, behind that vacant stare, I knew he was being completely serious. He loved this girl and she had made it clear that it didn’t matter what he looked like, she obviously loved him too.\n\n\n“I’m happy for you, man.” I smiled.\n\n\n“Thank you,” he replied, flatly.\n\n\nIt was subtle, perhaps too subtle to notice for most people, but in that moment... I saw Jitters smile.\n\n\n\n~Author’s Notes~\nIt pains me to write out Jitters, but I have a feeling this isn’t the last we’ve seen of him.\nIn my actual New Leaf town, Nibbles lived in Place and I always imagined that she and Jitters were a thing, which I bet we’ve all done with some of the villagers we encounter. They even left at around the same time, which was what inspired this episode."
