When she first arrived in the Empire, she was surprised to find that this traditional art did not exist here—perhaps because rope was always associated with slaves in this land. This fondness stemmed from her training as a court dancer, which had involved rigorous exercises to cultivate flexibility—along with, of course, the teasings that so often accompanied such moments.\n\nAnd so, from time to time, she would bound herself and quietly wait for morning to arrive. A servant would push open the door and “accidentally” discover her, and thus a new day would begin. Yet unlike ordinary mornings, she would feel refreshed and invigorated, as though the irritations and fatigue of the past few days had been swept away.
